There'll only ever be one Rafa for this club and he played RB. I propose we call Varane: Fael.
Come on. The real Rafa that we'll remember until the end of time is the one that managed to get under our skin with his foolproof mind games and fact list. I think his position was FSW.

Im reading this guy is available for just 30 million euros??? Does that mean he’s shit because no way United ever get this good a deal on a good player.

1 year left, doesn't want to renew, club don't want to lose him for a free and he's coming off a season where he wasn't at his best. That's still a fecking steal for the kind of player he could be though, tbf.

When people say "I would swap him for Pogba", this is the player they should be talking about, not a LW.

Fantastic talent. Would be a steal at 40M.

I never watch him but I know we need a new midfielder because I don’t trust Matic at all to be good enough for even be rotation option for McFred. I like this.

Hes 18 year old with only 1 year left in his contract. Does it still look cheap?

People saying he’s not capable of playing the DM role in a pivot are wrong. He does so for Rennes and his numbers are staggering for his age.

...averages 5 tackles/interceptions per game. He’s so young + multifaceted in his footballing qualities that he can be directed and moulded to take on a variety of different roles. Example: as things stand if he’s brought in and Pogba stays for the upcoming year, you can assure the coaching staff will want him to control the middle of the pitch and be the one reliable for more of the defensive responsibilities. And then on the flip side if Pogba leaves the following summer, Camavinga is so talented they could ask of him to take on more of the Pogba (attacking/playmaking) role at pivot while looking for someone else to do the role he would do this upcoming year if inked. It’s not even like it would be forced, he’s just that damn versatile and efficient to do multiple jobs.

Comparing his numbers to someone like Rice, Camavinga is ahead in virtually every stat except interceptions, blocks, clearances, and aerial duels but all of them just by a whisker. All while at the same time, he is faaar ahead in progressive passes. Would be quite literally the best of both worlds if he’s able to translate without many road bumps.

Comparing to some notable midfielders - Camavinga has amazing defensive statistics.

he has all the makings of a sitting midfielder, similar to what prime Matic was if he’s developed and groomed into that role.

.....what a signing this would be

Is this guy a proper DM or primarily a CM who can play DM as well?

Just watched the YT compilation he looks incredibley gifted. Sign him up Woody

Remember when newcastle wanted 50 million for Sean Longstaff  . 40mill euro for him would be amazing

The latter. He’s so gifted offensively and with the ball that he naturally doesn’t sit back all the time as it would be a waste of what he has to offer.

miles better than what we got in McFred in terms of their progressive ball playing + defensive ability (lack of)

Looks like an all round midfielder who can defend, can pass and has work rate. Perfect for Ole’s double pivot.

  • Barcelona believe that Dembélé's injury will force the aforementioned player to accept the lower-value proposal.
  • Barcelona's economic situation will force Griezmann to look for a way out of the club.

Wrong thread

Sign him and with Mejbiri coming through, our midfield will be in great hands for years to come.

Would be a hugely important signing for the future as I'm extremely confident that he'll be the best midfielder in the world one day. Him and Pedri are the two most talented midfielders in their age bracket by far.

However he is an 8 not a 6, so we'd still have a defensive hole to fill in our midfield.

we've also got tonnes of them to be fair

Yes and similar to us, when you take away the couple of star names, the others arent actually that great. Herrera for example nobody was all that bothered when he left here and he played 30 times for them last year

Yes definitely. As the charts show, he is in that range of a Casemiro/Saul/Fabinho/Sergio/Kante.

Speaking of Kante, Deschamps has already gone on and compared him to Kante saying how they are both athletic/versatile and able to make everything look so easy.

...at the moment, Camavinga stands as an aggressive, defensive #6. He doesn’t have the production output in the final 3rd of a more attacking CM in terms of G/A so there should be almost zero worry that he wonders off or looks for that because it’s just not his game. Progressive passes and being a freakish athlete with an insane work rate to help defend and win back balls is the name of his game. He would already do better what everything McFed are asked of doing. Even at his age - being so raw with tons of untapped potential and maturing still to unearth.

They have Verratti, Parades, Herrera, Gueye, Rafinha, just signed Gini and have an exciting player called Xavi Simons coming through.
This is all before you add a potential move for Pogba.

Camavinga is better off coming to us.

Is it that much diffeent from ours:

Verratti-Pogba
Parades-Matic
Herrera-McTominay
Gueye-Fred
Rafina-VDB
Gini-Fernandes
SImons-Hannibal

For all the numbers its the weakest part of there team I feel they are a player just like Camavinga (or a Pogba hopefully) short of a real quality central midfield starting three in comparison to there centre backs and attacking players (also think there full backs arent top top either)

Yes!!!! A couple of weeks ago there were rumours they were asking PSG £80m or so for him and I think the general consensus was he was going to cost £40-50m.

You are right, a talented teenager with a year left, it does look expensive of course, but we are talking about one of the most talented youngsters and certainly most experienced in Europe.

£25m is an absolute steal as that would make him cheaper than every single midfielder we have been linekd to (bar the weird link to the African player a while ago).

Hell if we can pick up Sancho, Varane and Camavinga for £140-145m its superb business...we should be lookign at a 4th signing after a few sales too in my opnion if thats the case

Too young so it is very hard to say, but atm he looks more like a high-octane, pressing menace #8 who will often push the team forward with his ball carrying/quick passing once he wins the ball and not like someone who will settle in a holding role to me.

But, damn, what a talent he looks.

For a player with that much potential and experience at such a young age, absolutely.

For a 18 year old with 1 year left in his contract i wouldnt call him a "bargain", but do i want us to sign him? you bet i do! :D watched him for French NT where he was giving a very mature performance in the midfield, he's everything i hope Pogba would turn into, a box to box midfielder with good defensive awareness.

The fee is about the same as 29 years old Thiago who had 1 year left in his contract when he joined Liverpool from Bayern. 26m investment on 18 years old top talent midfielder who has 56 starts in Ligue 1, 4 starts in UCL, and 2 starts in EL. As well as appearances in France NT. A bargain price and has good value of investment in my opinion.

I agree. People comparing him to Pogba a lot - but I don't quite see it. He somewhat reminds me of Kante on the occasions I've seen him play. Quick, nimble, high energy, aggressive, driving ball forward etc. Doesn't have the passing elegance and what not I'd associate with Pogba. More of a carrier than a distributor.

Forget about Rice, Camavinga is absolutely the midfielder I want most in the market. Clearly far more talented than any other midfielder at same age.

He is far more solid defensively with better energy and tackling, but Pogba is far better playmaker with better passing and more creative. Pogba is better in dribbling, but Camavinga is decent dribbler too.

He looks an incredible talent. If we get this one, it would quite the coup.

I agree. I think he will end up being more of a Kante than a Pogba imo.

Not buying the links unless it's confirmed by English media and ideally we should be getting him along side somebody who is ready to play and contribute from get go in the midfield.

€30m is literally a steal, too good to be true

Really hope we can sign this lad. Imo we're working with him and his entourage to convince him to come. We shouldn't have any issue in doing that. Wages should not be an issue since we can give new contracts to Mata and Grant. Game time should not be an issue either. He's super young so imminent silverwares should not be a big issue. But Rennes definitely want the highest fee possible.

It's 50/50 that he could hit the ground running in the PL but I'm pretty sure eventually he'd be great for us. Sign him and we won't have to repeat the DM talks and how shit our midfield is every fecking transfer windows.

So if we sell Pogba and get him our main double pivot options will be Camavinga Fred and Mctominay. All are box to box that can win the ball back. I would honestly prefer the double pivot to have a proper DM in it but I suppose Ole prefers having 2 ball winners there

Mate, Thiago won Treble with Bayern and has proven himself in top level football for years. Not sure why'd you compare him to Camavinga? Mind you i dont disagree with your assesment about his potential at all.

Thiago was 29 years old means he only has a few years left in him. Camavinga has lot of years to offer. The comparison is that if a 29 years old cost £25m then someone who has a chance to offer 10 years plus should be worth much more, thus why £26m is bargain of investment.

Pogba - Starter
Matic - Back up
McTominay - Decent starter
Fred - Decent starter
VDB - Doesn't play in the same position
Fernandes - Doesn't play in the same position
Hannibal - Doesn't play in the same position.

So as you can see, he would only be competing with 2 players for a starting berth. He'd have more of a chance at United than at PSG.

With a 29 year old CM there's always a chance of their level off a cliff when moving to a new league. On the other hand with these super talents they will always have a good resale value so there are arvuments to be made both ways.
