I read somewhere that LVG did not want Cavani. This one seems to be mostly Woody's idea.

Shame? More like fantastic and a blessing in disguise. We do not need him for the price that it would take to get him and we can't accommodate him either with the presence of RVP, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez (if he stays) and the emergence of Wilson.

Agreed. One things for sure; LvG will have known what Rooney has been like, holding the club to ransom and eventually getting stupid wages. LvG won't like a player with that attitude in his squad. Yes, he deals with a lot of egos in the Dutch squad but none of them would hold their respective clubs to ransom not once, let alone twice. If Unite really are serious about bringing in Cavani, I can only see Rooney being moved on.
Knowing United logic, we will buy another elite striker and still not buy a midfielder.

Everyone's suddenly an expert on Van Gaal, and knows exactly what he'll tolerate.
I'd suggest Van Gaal won't come into a new club and ship out the highest earner without even training with him. Why would Rooney's past (under another manager) matter? He has ability, so surely it would make sense for any sensible manager to try to get something out of him before going for a replacement.
Rooney's attitude (on the pitch, where it actually matters most) is fine. I know half the fans of the club are desperate to see Rooney brought down a peg, but his reputation is still great across Europe and the rest of the world.
I doubt the top of Van Gaal's priority list is to get rid of Rooney, as some would suggest.
Can't see how he would currently fit into our plans, maybe under Moyes and as a replacement for RvP - but not now.
If Cavani comes, I think its safe to say Rooney will be on the market... unless LVG wants to do something crazy like turning Rooney into a CM.

Can't tell if the people here are stupid or joking. What the hell are we going to do with Cavani, when accommodating strikers and no 10's is already the biggest problem at this club. We have Wilson, Hernandez, Welbeck, RvP and Rooney fighting it out for what could be a lone striker position in LVG's 4-3-3 next year. We are so weak in every other area of the squad, so what should we do? That's right, go spunk £60m on another striker and make it worse
I would love if we bought Cavani if only to see the Welbeck fanboys on here explode with anger. Unfortunately however the club dont seem capable of landing a big fish like that unless, as in the case with Mata, its handed to them on a plate with chips and peas
