If you want quality you have to pay for it. I don't mind paying a little more in wages if we get him for nothing. It will most likely be a incentives-based deal anyway.
As for a long-term deal I've only seen 1/2 years mentioned. That is definitely not what I would describe as a long term deal.
Sancho was only 2 years but it seemed like an eternity, and his wages were ridiculous. Just think about the effect this has on players who play regularly for half the money, or less.
