I think he is in denial about the steep decline and the factors which have caused it. I think a lack of understanding amongst football fans regarding club structure has led to a blame the manager culture. If multiple managers are complaining about the board, how long until you call for a structural change?Tbf, I don't think Rozay is Glazer apologist looking at his posts here (why would he even be one). He has his reasoning and I respect that. But, I absolutely don't agree with him
There is no way you can say this is a good run club looking at the last 6 years. We just seem like we overestimated the value of money above proper football planing and direction. And here goes another crucial window for us. Every single one looks like a crucial since Fergie left. Tbh, I wouldn't mind Ole spending less, but spending quality and slowly building as I don't feel comfortable giving him 200 million when he doesn't have expirence in this level of transfer market. And in the end, if things go wrong people will blame Ole. Feck that, backing Ole is not only about money.

Your comment implies that the 2 are mutually exclusive, unless you are speaking to how the Glazers run the operations.Cause and effect mate. People are blaming the effect, not the cause of it.
If you controlling a football club, and the goal of said football club is to play good football, win trophies etc. The decisons made within that club would be based on "how would this influence our on pitch performance". Would the effect of this decision improve the club?
If you controlling a football club, and the goal of said football club is to increase its value, increase revenue, make £££ etc. The decisions made within the club would be based on "how would this influence us financially?". Would the effect of this decison generate more £££?
What annoys me, is that we should still be competitive on the highest level with the amount of £££ we spend on transfers and wages. The problem is that since most decisions is made from a monetary standpoint, the footballing side suffers.
Your comment implies that the 2 are mutually exclusive, unless you are speaking to how the Glazers run the operations.
Juventus among others, have proven that investing in the success of the club (trophies) by having a structure that prioritises the football side (or running it separately to the commercial side) will lead to success in both.
From the time they signed Ronaldo their value has increased at least 80% (including the hit from the rape allegations). Their equivalent to Ed Woodward is Pavel Nedved and like us,went 6 years without a League title following demotion to Serie B. They even finished 7th in both the seasons prior to Conte arriving. Since then, they've won 7 titles in a row,4 doubles and reached 2 Champions League finals.
After getting knocked out in the 1/4 final last year, they signed the man who has stood between them and the trophy. They also signed Cancelo and kept Pjanic, Bernardeschi, Sandro.
We're too poorly run to ever achieve that

There should be some way that we can sue him for such malpractice. I wonder how many of LVGs signings were actually his, ditto with JoseThank you for posting this. Hopefully people read it.

If things don't improve in the Ole period then we as fans should target Woodward. That's been 3 different managers with 3 different styles of management running the same club.
Would the Glazers do anything about it?
Only a buffoon would think that hiring LVG followed by Mourinho was a good choice, especially by using the justification that 'fans wanted it'. One manager valued possession extremely highly and the other valued the opposite, they recruit different qualities and types of players. This ends up in a very imbalanced squad because there is a mish-mash of players. Before you bring it up, I was against the Mourinho appointment for this exact reason, LVG had sold players like Welbeck, Hernandez and RVP that would be valuable players for a defensive manager while buying a player like Blind that only fit a possession based system.
We are in this mess because Woodward has put everything on the powerful manager model and completely cocked it up. His appointments have no foresight and are self defeating.
I suppose they don't care as long as we keep earning them money which Ed able to achieve. Bet Ed's appraisals is off the charts.
Exactly.
LVG's 2nd season just started having Smalling & Blind forming a solid defensive partnership.
Attacking wise we just discovered a predatory version of Rashford's right place at right time type striker with Martial, Lingard & even Memphis as subs.
What was going to happen in LVG's 3rd season? He was going to play martial & Rashford as strikers in partnership with players like memphis as subs who are more suited whilst having a solid CB partnership.
What happened when Jose came? Bought Zlatan and Lukaku to turn the strikers we had in to wingers permanently, sold memphis with the intention of selling martial, sold blind whilst having completely different tactics etc etc.
Woodward has no idea what he is doing & if things don't work out under Ole - it never will under Woodward.
Apparently we have spent more on clearing our debt than on players since the Glazer's became owners. SAF gave an indication by saying there is 'no value in the market', LVG said we are a business not a football club. Also a reminder that the Glazers have spent £0,000 on the club.
Most of us having been saying the same thing, but no one wants to listen.
Greedy owners + Clueless CEO + lots of average players. Oh boy, we're in a pickle aren't we?
Most of us having been saying the same thing, but no one wants to listen.
Agreed. Honestly not sure if it's going to get fixed until we have a new set of owners.

I think player quality can be easily fixed. Poor leadership is however very difficult to fix, especially when there is no accountability structure. We do not have a pseudo-democratic process to our leadership, Woodward can't be voted out by football people. The reality is that if Woodward had to answer to a panel or group of reviewers he'd be out of a job, but the Glazers are very buddy buddy with him because he helped with the takeover.
Absolutely! We're being ruled by an authoritarian . LVG basically cried out about our structure , Jose as well to a an extent. I don't know how many managers we need to sacrifice to prove that the problem lies elsewhere. What would it take for the people to hit the streets ? Can we go any lower than where we are right now? It's blatant to see.
In LVG's first press conference, he was at pains to point out the importance of the sponsors and the commercial side of the club. What would it take, you ask, to hit the streets. In my opinion, it would take Fergie holding a press conference and denouncing the Glazers and Woodward as greed-driven plutocrats whose knowledge of football could be written on the back of a stamp. That might do it.
Nah, Woodward apologists would accuse Fergie of being out of touch with the realities of modern football. In LVG's first press conference, he was at pains to point out the importance of the sponsors and the commercial side of the club. Unfortunately the only rumours of that happening appear to be the Saudi ones and even that has gone quiet.Agreed. Honestly not sure if it's going to get fixed until we have a new set of owners.

We could be the best club in the world. All we need is owners who don't take money out and staff who put effort in.
Shame.
Do Woodward apologists actually exist? Do business men have fan clubs now?
We didn't spend between 2009 and 2013. "Repair the roof when the sun is shining". We could also have spent money on renovating the stadium, revamping other parts of the club, community initiatives. We could have told Chevrolet to feck off and had a more subtle logo, or better yet no logo at all. We're rich enough to do that. We could have hired football people to run the club, which meant we wouldn't have wasted 100s of millions. It’s not even that though, we’ve spent a huge sickening amount, just very very poorly.
Yeah. Even people who criticise them will add a caveat of "but of course, when it comes to marketing and the financial side, they're brilliant..."Quite a few of them. So many times I've heard the phrase that he's some sort of marketing genius.
We will never get back on track as a club as long as Woodward is running things.
