Ed Woodward has resigned from Manchester United | 2024: Returns to football

Convenient scapegoat, not sure what people are expecting to replace him. It will only be some other finance guy, probably even more clueless about football. Best we can hope for is that they'll stay out of the football side of it a bit more, just provide the cash when asked. Not sure if that's all that Woody did or not though tbh.

Do we know if he's resigning cos he was in favour of the ESL or because he was against it?

I mean, it gets said a lot on here, but you fecking LOVE TO SEE IT.

What a brilliant day this has turned out to be.

This is a momentous day for football and for Utd. Immensely proud of the footballing world and the wide condemnation from our fans.

Fingers crossed the Glazers feck themselves off

would make sense it would be the Glazers - they put their name to it.

Be careful what we wish for though.. the only people who could afford the club are likely to be human rights abusers or just as parasitic

Woodward was apparently going to announce his resignation in the summer anyways. The SL just sped the whole process up.
You seriously cannot believe that. They've all been humiliated beyond belief. They are all fecked.

Unfortunately

FECK OFF WOODWARD!! Still a lot of uncertainty will forecome to Manchester United but this can only be the most awaited news in recent history!

Most definitely. The ESL definitely played a part in this announcement and most likely in Woodward getting sacked. Him leaving basically means that the Glazers are cashing out, too.

That doesn't make any sense at all , Woodward is just a Employee not a major share holder who is cashing out which might be considered a sign at stretch but it's nothing like that .
Glazers may very well sell but Woodward resignation is certainly not a precursor to it.

This makes a really lovely change from all the bad news we read mostly these days.

I don't for one second believe that he was going anyway. That's nonsense fed to journalists which I'd hope aren't foolish enough to buy.

I remember when Pogba's hair was the most dramatic thing to happen. I need a fecking lie down

So true!

In the last 12 months we have had a once in a century pandemic, Brexit, the death of Prince Philip, and now this. Please please please can 2022 just be as boring as hell as I need to stabilise a little bit????

Given the period of the club Woodward oversaw and the disastrous attempt at a coup he's leaving behind, I'd be damn impressed if they found someone more clueless.

Ed Woodward was the Glazers' right-hand man from the very beginning. Whatever Woodward did was in the best interests of the Glazers. If he's getting sacked, either the Glazers are completely changing their tune, or they're looking to move on from United. I'm hoping (and slightly expecting) the latter, but that's mostly because I don't know who else the Glazers would hire as the vice-chairman (unless Joel wants to run the club himself).
