Ed Woodward has resigned from Manchester United | 2024: Returns to football

Just your standard mid-management penny pincher with zero ambition or vision.

Richard Arnold played a massive part of making United a commercial giant and sustainable commercial cash flow the past decade when the team was struggle since Fergie and Gill left. You are a bit misguided in your comments I'm afraid.

Read somewhere that he’s been working on this superleague project for 15 years, while he was still an investment banker at JP Morgan. Could there be any truth to this?
That would mean it was him pushing all this shite and not the owners. I would love it if this was the case

What difference does that make? Not sure why many people are celebrating this news. Woodward has done his job fine until this esl debacle. The only other bad thing he has done is his manager selection.

So perhaps that is a positive. What will a new chairman bring? Will he make us the 1st most expensive team rather than second? Be more ruthless in sacking manager? Give more focus on the club infrastructure?
Yes we should bring Pochetino to be manager , DoF, and CEO

Amazing but doesn't make any sense at the moment
His position as representative of Manchester United was untenable. Our reputation has been severely damaged. Someone had to go for the club to save face.

The Glazers only care about increasing their profits. As the CEO, the strategy to achieve that goal was down to Woodward.

If (and it's a big if) we can appoint a new CEO who believes that building the squad is the best form of investment, it can only be good for United.
The CEO would be appointed by then, so it would be someone who aligns to their interest.

I genuinely think this is going to be it for them. At this stage, getting docket points so we cannot participate in Europe next season would be very welcome. I will carefully check the stocks value, with the lost reputation after the ESL fiasco and hopefully getting points removed, the stock might quickly go south (especially knowing that the financial statements are going to be far weaker for the next year). They might decided that the club stock is not gonna increase more and start selling it.

Fecking hell this has come out of nowhere but it makes sense right? This is crazy though as I was just reading in another thread that this would surely be one failure too much. Still it's hard to believe this fecking gimp is actually going to gone. Some have been suggesting the Glazers would sell up shop after this failure and while I feel that's wishful thinking, it is possible right? This is a good first step anyway. G'luck Woodward, you won't be missed bud!

Maybe I’m a pessimist but I can’t help thinking, better the devil you know

YES!! Now please smack that massive head of yours off a door on the way out. Cnut.

feck yeah, get in. But please remember this - he was just doing their bidding. We need to continue to protest till the Glazers give in, they are the root cause of all our problems.

This. The whole thing has been a farce and a huge embarrassment. Even for our low standards under the rats.

He's preparing his resignation letter like he prepares his bids. That's why he's not leaving til the end of the year :(

Woohoo. Now let's get rid of the Glazers.
Yes. Woodward going is a smoke screen. The criminals of the piece are the Glazers. For the good of the club they MUST be removed. Otherwise Woodward will just be replaced by another puppet of the Glazers
