Ed Woodward - Chairman of the European Club Association Marketing & Communications

I'm actually a bit worried about this now, to be honest. I've had a Google and laughing might well get me in a bit of bother. Should I edit my posts?

Animal, vegetable or mineral?

Damn I wish I'd got here earlier. Oh well.

I didn't know that Bayern pulled that stunt. A dirty trick. Dirty, but clever.
Well i actually consider that Bilbao were the ones that went over the top. I mean if a player wants to leave and club agrees to pay a rather big transfer fee, to block it all the way just seems ridiculous really.

Right, well in the absence of any proper advice I'm apologising for laughing at the libel, in case any legal types are reading. I suggest anyone else who didn't take it seriously does likewise.

Apologies.

Thanks Neviller. Wish I could say the same for Lane who seems to have sauntered back in here without acknowledging the potential damage he's done to the forum.

I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was willingly trying to damage the forum, so I'll make my apologies and leave the thread for now.

No harm meant.

Mate, this is horrendously libelous.

I actually don't quite get what part of my messages can be seen as a libel? Is it's about Martinez transfer? This is all very weird.

If this is a sneaky attempt to plead ignorance of the law, I highly doubt that'll work. It may only lead to a worse punishment. I'm not sure what you're playing at here to be honest mate. If this forum is brought to court over someone with 287 posts there'll be hell to pay.

I for one am completely unaware of any legislation relevant to discussion in this thread. There are clearly others in the same situation. It's very difficult to heed your warnings without even knowing what we're not supposed to be talking about.

Personally i think it's some kind of weird joke or a trolling. I mean, it's forum, most of the stuff here are opinions, speculations, rumors, i guess a lot of that could be easily be labelled as "libel", if somebody has an agenda.
The stuff i wrote about Martinez transfer - that's pretty much common knowledge for anyone who read about this transfer in detail. And it could be easily found on the media sites and so on. Not only that, but also as i recall i actually read the piece via Daniel Geey twitter. Who himself is actually a professional lawyer (although with a lot of foot-related publicity it has to be said:)), so i very much doubt he would actually post a link o some illegal content.

Imagine that, number 20, Robin van Persie brought to you by Coca Cola.
How bad is it that all I could think of was "Why hasn't Ed caught onto this yet? Imagine how much a company would have paid in order to be the official sponsor for the signing of Wayne Rooney."? Pretty bad, I'd say, but still... c'mon, Ed, get big money companies to sign players for us if you can't do it yourself. ;)

I can understand a club not wanting to be pushed around by a player but if said player is bound and determined to leave, standing in their way seems a bit pointless.

Exactly, and they were offered a considerable fee as well. And the player is going abroad. So not much to moan about really.

Yeah, he could make a fair bit if he signed somebody up to sponsor the entire Wayne Rooney transfer saga. Or having an official club sponsor for Man United's pursuit of Cesc Fabregas.

You know this how? Thiago says we made no offer for him. Seems you take Herrera's word there was a bid for him but not Thiago's that there wasn't for him. Wonder why?

Also, what about Fellaini, Coentrao and Ozil? Are they not being acknowledged now, or are we just letting them lie there, undiscussed because that would be a climbdown and you admitting footballing decisions have feck all to do with a Chief Executive?

At the same time you shouldn't make assumptions that it was all Moyes...

This business with Kroos is another example of that. We were dead cert for him a week ago, but now apparently we were never interested and it was never an issue for him? There is no Moyes to blame for this one.

People joke about it, yet the ability to maximize the commercial revenue is extremely important. And it's really hard to do it cleanly, i mean without all these backhand deal were you get a contracts because your owner is a very rich and connected.

Don't you think it's quite possible and actually very much probable, that Moyes wanted Kroos and made him number one target, and then our new manager Van Gaal told the board, that he does not need Kroos and rather have other players?

Toni Kroos staying at Bayern Munich isn't necessarily somebody's "fault."

If Bayern refuse to sell, or he in fact does want to stay there, Moyes, Woodward or whoever can do diddly squat. Woodward's posturing to the media is another story, and he'll get stick come September if he hasn't lived up to his Billy Big Bollocks image. But right now I don't see any fault at any one person's feet.

Just to clarify, the libel thing was a wum. All credit to Raul Madrid for being genuinely concerned, The Neviller for reacting like The Neviller and then admirably joining in on the wum when told, and Lane for making the innocuous post. And thanks to bred, shamwow, pablo and WR for jumping on board.

Good show all.

You'd got me. Well played
