I would have been reasonably happy with the window if we had got in one more experienced CM. Its not just Herrera that needed replacing, so did Fellaini.
One experienced CM and a real prospect like Longstaff (combined with letting a player like Pereira go) would have made it a very good window.
But now to be fair it was an underwhelming window and not good enough.
Who is to blame is another matter.
People bitching about not replacing Lukaku I dont get though. Everyone seems to want Greenwood to play; well thats what you are going to get now.

The market turned a few years ago with the influx of even more TV money and player prices doubled. United spent over £½ billion in the last 6 transfer windows. The money was badly spent. Given how sloppy Mourinho was in the transfer market and the doubling of prices he was never going to make it work here.

But there are no quick fixes here man sadly. Looking at today's team it truly does feel like a completely new start now with Ole. I think if everything is considered and not just looking specifically at transfers, Ole's done a smashing job this transfer window.

Watching Maguire makes me scrutinise Woodward even more, there is no way we would have had the season we had last year had he just brought him when Mourinho made him a top target but thought our defenders were good enough, I think we missed out on champions league football because of that decision.

Interesting to see Perisic deal, seems like it was perhaps the right call from Woodward, not to dispose of Martial in favour of him. Would have been a short term and expensive signing.

But it's not Woodward's job to sack himself, that decision is placed firmly on the shoulders of top tier management, the club's owners, the Glazers, and they aren't about to sack perhaps the football worlds leading commercial finance expert. The guy brings large quantities of money into the club, and his job remains safe until that stops being true.
We need to keep Woodward at the club in a strictly commercial aspect and put a DoF in place to take charge of our transfer business alone. I honestly don't know why that didn't happen this summer, especially with all the noise coming out of the club convincing us that this was the plan, but it has to happen before next summer comes around or we're stuck with dithering Ed for another hugely important transfer window.

I'm not even that impressed by his financial returns, and am sure Daniel Levy, Peter Moore or David Gill would have generated the same level of financial growth, but they would also have delivered on the pitch too.
