Ed Woodward 2019 - Until all Arctic ice melts edition

Has proper potential to be worse than 2009 when we lost Ronaldo and signed obertan, Owen and valencia.

To this day, I still can't believe that window.

Valencia was a good/great signing, but we completely botched that window.

It had to have been the Glazers not wanting to spend.

Nice to see we've left the majority of our major business until the last week.

Way to plan shit Ed.

He's a buffoon but i feel he can only work with what he has, and that is a family of owners who have no interest in the on field performance of the team. All that drives them is social media, and corporate deals.

They react when the fans turn in terms of management but as long as they get their dividends each year they dont care.

We are a cash cow and the less they have to put into the team the better for them- this is why their gophers in Judge and Woodward haggle for so long on what should be simple deals, if we had have gone to Leicester for instance with 80 million in May, Maguire would be a Utd player by now, instead we have haggled all summer and have a week left to sort a deal and will end up with add ons paying more.

Our defensive partnership for the season should have been playing and gelling in these pre season games- but again pre season is now a corporate gig for the club not a preparation tool to lay foundations.

Surely the last Summer with Woodward in charge of this stuff...?

They've royally, and I stress the word royally, taken the piss this window.

They're cheeky, greedy, slimy twats who clearly don't give a feck about Man Utd - and I really do hope that this season we see Utd fans behaving toward them accordingly.

Imagine how good we'd be if Woodward was a brilliant Director of Football. We'd be up there with Madrid, Barca and City.

The shocking thing is that we've been after the same player since the start of the summer - Maguire. Dybala-Lukaku situation might be a fresh opportunity that happened, that's fine. But to have 1 week left in the window and not have at least a centerback in already gelling with the squad (should have had a midfielder and CB along with Wan Bissaka in by now) is shameful.

This thread is going to be mental next Thursday when we bring in Dybala, Maguire, Bruno, and Manzukic while shipping out Lukaku, Smalling, and Rojo.

I don’t think for one second that is going to happen.

I think Ed revels in the drama i really do. Him pretending to be on the phone as he enters a building, how dramatic.MAYBE he is gearing up for another deadline day bonanza.
Whatever we do and whoever we sign, it is too late, the squad should have been bedded in by now during pre-season. Not acceptable.

He is fecking around with us. The fact is he is not willing to spend money. What major rebuild?

We have Ole and academy players coming up. All is good!

I don't think anything more will happen this window. Maguire possibly but seems like Leicester won't sell.

And we had a yr to plan knowing Ronaldo was on his way

6 days from the end of window, I can't see how Leicester will agree on this sale now.

Think Dybala-Lukaku swap deal will have a higher chance to happen, and we'll be told that we signed a top player and should be happy with that.

I think Ed will make sure something crazy happens. He revels in such a thing. He values his crappy image so he will make sure he completes atleast one deal for his own ego.

The uproar at Old Traffod if we do not get 2 signings will be something. I do not think Ed will attend.

Really hope you are right on point in bold. Although I would prefer a few more signings, I'm not expecting any in

I think Leicester will sell, Newcastle won't.

He knows if he doesn't complete any more signing media and fans will eat him alive and as I said one thing he cares about his own face value. I would be very surprised if he doesn't sign any more player/s even if that means shelling out some crazy money.

Have you thought he might be ordering a pizza or a Big Mac? On a more serious note, if Ed messes up this window he really should be shown the door. However, this will not happen because he is saving the Glazers a packet whilst looking like he is working himself into the ground to get the players in that Ole ( and the fans ) crave. Makes sense now that he has not moved on any of our duds in the squad waiting to come in and cause their usual mayhem.

I have thought all along that our purchases would be minimal this year but really believed he would have got a centre back and midfielder in at least. All we have is a youngster who may become a good player and a very good defender, albeit the latter took a struggle to get at an inflated price. We appear to have been linked with alsorts of players including Pepe who went to Arse and looks like Fernandez will end up at Spurs. Hope these players don't come to haunt us in the new season.

Agree with @yamo123x in all respects.

He'll come back next week saying 'Great news guys, we have signed Andres Iniesta for £100m'

Actually I'm surprised we haven't sold more players

If Arsenal get Pepe and Coutinho, they've got 4th place already nailed down. We'd need to buy at least two midfielders, Maguire, Dybala and a 30 goal a season striker to get into the top 4. Spurs and Arsenal are showing the importance of having someone who knows what they're doing in charge of transfers. They're following Liverpool and City's lead. Why the feck are we so incapable? Woodward has a lot to answer for now.

Not a surprise ARsenal have become more active since appointing a footballing guy in EDU as a technical director. Like many have already said, till wodward is here not much will change.
