Woodward is an accountant by trade! He became an investment banker and was advising the Glazers when the takeover happened. He got recruited in 2007 by Malcolm Glazer to grow the commercial revenue for the club and was very successful at doing so.

Ndombele gone for 63 million, Fernandes will probably cost 50million so it is much less than what you mentioned. Anyway it would be too much work for Woodward to get these deals done. It takes 5 weeks or more for each deal. I mean how long is Fernandes deal going on and we missed out on Ndombele with last minute offer which should have been done long ago.
How is the share price or value of the club now compared with when he took over? That will be his number one "key performance indicator" as CEO, everything else is very much secondary

I wouldn't be surprised if that's us done in the window now. Unless a "can't say no" player becomes available - De Ligt, etc - then I think we would have concluded any other deals by now.

After the abject finish to the season, I really expected business to be swift and telling of the clubs desire. Ole even made a very clear statement about wanting these players by the tour. Yet here we are with two players, only one that we expect to start.
Every season I think some people make a bit too much of the tour departure as some sort of critical deadline. On the other hand, I am feeling a bit concerned.

Even if we managed to sign 5 more players which we really need as Pogba, DDG, Lukaku, Herrera are leaving. The first few games will be a shamble again and we will lose ground to City and Liverpool from day 1. New players need time to gel and that's why we need to get the majority signings done before pre season tour.

What's more likely, that Ed is indeed this incompetent, despite landing the CEO position and that the Glazers, despite being ruthless billionaires, have suddenly gone soft and will tolerate Ed "failing" year in, year out OR instead that the powers above him have installed limits for the club (in terms of replacing players/money spent) and have made his job not to oversee a dramatic improvement of our squad but instead to "manage" the manager as the club saves every penny possible?
