No. He crushed their pathetic little dreams.Did it work?
Thats a happy ending if I ever read one!No. He crushed their pathetic little dreams.
Hardy Machka! No. He crushed their pathetic little dreams.
Let's be honest, it's going to be Michael Caine.Looking forward to this! Hopefully the film does the event justice... and hopefully they get a good actor to play Churchill.
He gotten fat?Let's be honest, it's going to be Michael Caine.
He wants an Oscar. It's a bit of a retreat from his usual fare.
This teaser is being released a year before the film, I'm pretty sure we're going to have huge buildup around it with another couple of teasers and then probably 2 trailers.Ans good for that. Nolan ruined the build up by having too much for the TKD and TDKR....maybe he should be the one that reverts it back to a proper tease build up with not overly much revealed.
I don't think Caine can play Churchill. He has a cockney accent that stays with him in every role he plays.

I thought it would be obvious, but I was in fact joking about Caine being Churchill
It is great imagining the "On the beaches" speech in Caine's voice, though. "WE, WILL NEVER, SURRENDER!"
Nolan continues his step by step emulation of Kubricks career with his war film. I have two concerns: firstly that he is writing the script himself, and secondly, Michael Caine being Churchill is strange, but he is a good actor so we will see.
I expect a decent film which will be hugely overrated. While its true that the Second World War has hitherto been excellent source material for filmmakers, it is a bit hackneyed now and Im struggling to see what Nolan hopes to contribute to the discussion. Hopefully he can get the best out of the actors, because that will be factor that can differentiate it. While Im not massively excited about this, I certainly look forward to watching it.
That's not actually true though, is it?Nolan continues his step by step emulation of Kubricks career with his war film. I have two concerns: firstly that he is writing the script himself, and secondly, Michael Caine being Churchill is strange, but he is a good actor so we will see.

Yeah, apparently not. My mistake.
You had me doubting it there for a second!Yeah, apparently not. My mistake.
In fairness, you never know with Nolan!Yeah, apparently not. My mistake.
Yes, it was announced by a thousand gongs.Has hans Zimmer been confirmed yet?
Well, as long as she doesn't have to do any dying. In fairness, you never know with Nolan!
Won't be complaining if he ropes Cotillard in to be a random belgian.

He's a great actor but he's skinny too isn't he? LolI think it's going to be Mark Rylance who plays Churchill.

Holy crap! No I've never seen the film. If they can do that then yeah, Churchill should be fine.Did you see Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock?

I'm sure they'll make it work.

I've been reading a few forums, watching a few YouTube vids..
And the amount, the sheer amount, I'd say 90% of people I see, who don't know know what Dunkirk/The Battle of Dunkirk is absolutely astonishes me... astonishing.
Mostly Americans who don't know though, I know America weren't involved but holy shit it just goes to show that if USA wasn't involved they literally don't teach it... I mean it was only one of the most defining moments of WW2...
26. I learnt about Dunkirk in Primary School. How old are you? I suspect the many of the younger generations arent as aware of its significance as people of my generation are which is entirely understandable and another good reason to make a movie like this.

I don't blame them if they don't know, I blame the system for them never being taught, this wasn't an insignificant part in the war and they do learn about the war. I believe it's the fact that Americans barely teach their students about anything other than battles USA were in.
I understand they are of course going to push their own achievements but it was a major part of the ENTIRE war.
But again, I'm not even talking about them not understanding the full significance, I'm talking about most I see never having even HEARD of it AT ALL. Most even if they don't understand of it have HEARD of the battle of Midway, or Okinawa, or The Bulge, or Stalingrad etc etc, yet most haven't even heard of Dunkirk, just boggled my mind a bit..
I don't know, I'm just cynical.

I wasn't. Really can't remember anything about Dunkirk.Huh? I was taught about it, in elementary school. At the very least, it was in the history book, along with Stalingrad, D-Day and the bombs.
