Dries Mertens | €28M release clause

Apologies for bumping but I've just read on the MEN MUFC (reporting a news source I've never heard of before [CaughtOffside]) that big Rom is trying to get Mertens to join us instead of Chelsea who are apparently interested through Sarri. has anyone else heard anything or is this just paper talk?

bloody hell I think Sanchez wages goes up every day on this forum. for the release clause I reckon he would have been a good signing for us especially if it looks like we will be going after willian. least he would actually bring goals to the team

overrated player, who peaked last season and will decline the next, good for Italian league, same with Jorginho, he didn't even get into world cup! :-)

I'd take him if his release clause is that low still. Links well with Lukaku, plays off the right as well as up top.

He'll stay at Napoli but ah well.

I like Mertens a lot, would definitely welcome him to OT. Initially as a squad option but I could see him nailing down a starting 11 spot quickly, to be honest.

Would be a very good bench option, imho. I'm sure he wouldnt mind to be a squad player here at Manchester.

same with Jorginho, he didn't even get into world cup! :-)
Probably because he plays for Italy, who didn't qualify. If your point is in fact that Italy didn't make the world cup, it's not exactly Jorginho's fault is it?
I do agree with the rest of your point though. I think we have Sanchez already, so we don't need Mertens who plays in a relatively comparable play style.

Edit: I didn't see the white text ffs.
