I agree I think it's a weak. It's like some emo/Evanescence type power ballad. The beat besides that isn't very interesting either, it's about 3 notes on a piano under some very aggressive tinny drums. Not a big fan. And that's before we get to the lyrics which, and I'm not quite sure how to put this, are all a bit gay...I means it's cute and all, but it's a bit of a fanboi wank frenzy isn't it? You put that song on in a club without the vid and it just sounds like a gay love song. Which is cool, but I very much doubt what they were going for, plus I just don't find it nearly as interesting or affecting as I'm presumably supposed to. It's not exactly Dear Mama is it? He lost his son FFS during this interlude and he's rapping about how "all he needs is slim?"....eh?...Nah, sorry, pass me a sick bucket. It seems like the kind of thing that'll appeal hugely to Eminem's female fans, I'd stretch to call it hip hop personally.. I don't know why, it just doesn't feel like it.
Plus he didnt produce it, and as we all know he rarely if ever writes his own raps, so I'm struggling to see what, if anything about it is Dr. Dre, apart from the heavily inflated man in the video (Jesus Christ he's huge!)....
I'm sure it'll be big, cos it's got a catchy corny chorus with a girl singing and people love that shit...But I find it distinctly meh.
Kush is pretty decent if you ignore Akon.
I'm starting to think Kush is wack, dre has got to come harder than that
And this is as good a vindication of that opinion as you're likely to come by.
