Dr Dre - Detox

Upon seeing this thread, I started listening to The Chronic and 2001. I forgot how good they were, hopefully he pulls another classic out of the hat.

I think if he sticks to the tried and tested G-funk formula and simply expands the beats he can produce that kind of magic again, however the initially leaked tracks don't seem too promising to be honest.

Hopefully most of these colaborations are just the intended singles although having said that the singles and every other track on 2001 were awesome.

Yeah I've heard it before and I like it. I like a rapper who can change it up with speed and slow it down with a little bit of Harmony and smoothness. Spot on about Eminem though, his early stuff was the best. These days he puts on to many accents to try rhymes his words and hasn't really used his raw talent. He did well on the song 'beautiful'. Straight emotive lyrics and his proper voice. More of that on Relapse 2 and it would be another classic. What's your opinion on Bone Thugs (old but my favorite)

And agree with your edited paragraph, there are heaps of dudes with top lyrics but can't flow for shit. Modern day listeners are enticed by beats and flows so it's a shame really. Boss how good is Lupe on go go gadget flow..

But some of his collaborative work recently he's been killing it. Check him feature on Forever and Drop the World. None of that messing around.

Honestly I think Korrupt, The Game, Eminem, Nate, 50 and Snoop(if he stops autotuning) have to feature on this album. Horrified that Jay-Z is apart of the first single. Doesn't bode well for lovers of 2001

Aw yeh I was going to mention Drop the World and Forever, he just lays it down and saves the songs. I'm not to sure about 50, but agree with everybody else you mentioned. And agreed with Jay-Z. Personally I think an artists first single should be independent. The following singles and other songs should have features to create a buzz. Notice how Eminem has sped it up of late, I hope he continues that.

You mean slang for break a leg which is like to go hard on this album. I feel you dawg I feel you. Oh and playing all his stuff at the same time?! Like I never even thought of it.

Are you serious?

Eminem has better flow than Jay-z?

Even as a non-Jigga fan I can safely say thats rubbish.

Em is good and is quite righly considered a legend, however he can't touch Jay-z for flow simple as.

Also i'm not sure if you're trying to say he has better flow than method man but if you are thats rubbish as well. Method Man might not be the best lyricist around but in terms of flow there are next to none who can match him, certainly no Eminem.

Quite right. Eminem wish he could have had a flow like any one of the Reasonable Doubt tracks.

Any doubters:
Big L & Jay-Z 7-Min Freestyle

Shit, Eminem wished he had Cam'rons flow from back in the day, even Mase would have shut him up.

Not even going to bother discussing Eminem having a better flow that Jay Z as it's just ridiculous...

On the subject of sick flows, I always thought that Nas' flow on live nigga rap was pretty f*cking insane...

Another new interview:

For almost three decades Dr. Dre has been a trendsetter in the U.S. music industry, through his recordings with gangsta rappers N.W.A. and later as a producer and record executive who helped launch the careers of Eminem, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. Dre’s potentially defining, and probably final, musical work is the album Detox, which has achieved near-mythical status after being in production since 2003.

The much anticipated album is inching toward a spring 2010 release. The first single, “Under Pressure” and featuring Jay-Z, will be released this month. Lately, Dre has concentrated on sound from the ears outward. He has leant his name to a line of upscale headphones, “Beats by Dr Dre” by Monster Cable of Brisbane, California.

He says he's been listening to a lot of Kraftwerk - did a quick youtube instrumetal search and can see where Dre get's a lot of his inspiration:

. Horrified that Jay-Z is apart of the first single. Doesn't bode well for lovers of 2001

With Jay-Z writing the first single of 2001 definitley and heavily rumoured to have ghost wrote other stuff on there that doesn't really make sense. Jay-Z on any project can only be good he's one of the worlds top music stars and the best in hip hop. I guess when your super successfull your always going to get accusations of being too pop, I mean its much better to talk about killing people and how your still on the streets when your a multi-millionaire :wenger:

Jay-Z stays pushing the genre working with other people, selling out tours, headlining festivals, breaking chart records. I will be watching his show at the MEN arena in June and I know the show will be great because basically he consistantly produces, because he is the greatest hip hop artist of all time.

Anyway back to detox, strange the rumours have died down for the single looks like this album will never come out. Don't know why Dre is delaying so much.

Theres hundreds of clips like this on youtube. It wouldnt surprise me if this wasn't the real version. Sounds Dre esque at least.

Apparently the beat is rumored to be an uptempo one so this seems realistic... That beat is pure nastyness too, fecking gorgeous composition despite the poor quality of the clip.

There's another snippit out there right now of an intro to a song with Dre's vocals on it, it sounds pretty good as well.

^ link us!!

This was apparently supposed to feature Crooked I and Bishop Lamont as the second song... The original track"list" had this on it, and now this snippit leaks, so it's interesting but in my opinion another non starter.

Doesn't seem to be the finished version, obviously a leak, but maybe leaked too early? I also read a rumour that this song is no longer on Detox, but is for some advert for headphones.

there are some Dr. Dre branded headphones. They're ridiculously expensive.

Monster Beats By Dr Dre Headphones - Best Buy Canada

I tried them yesterday. For a pair of headphones they're good. If they're £300 good.. Well, I'm not sure. I also tried the smaller version that retails here for ~£180. Was close to buying them but I didn't think they were worth three times as much as my current pair.

I have his new song Under Pressure with Jay Z. The real ones been floating around for about a week or so now

Does the 'real' one have a chorus or not?

I've heard a 'new' version but it sounds exactly the same as the 'leaked' version, but without the radio/DJ tags at the beginning of the song.

There has been another one as well I heard last night with Akon and Snoop, I'll put it up in a bit.......Are we finally going to see this bloody album! Adex will be happy!

That beat is classic Dre, but Akon doesn't really fit in on the track imo.

Detox is like Owen Hargreaves. They said 3 weeks...we're still waiting...plus the leaks are like OHs cameo appearances that led to further injury or in this case shelving
