The more higher class players we get that are comfortable on the ball I hope the passing quality and creativity options keep rising, I get excited from this type of signing for that reason.

Partly agree with this, though you have forgotten DeLigt who also moved after the champions league success. They stood far above the rest for me too. I think VDB is on the same level as Neres and Ziyech, the next run of players talent wise. All good players but I think people are really carried away being jealous of Ziyech to Chelsea.

Dont see VDB as a bad signing by any means. Fee is fairly reasonable and he offers us better cover for Fernandes than the current dross, also offers us better cover for Matic than we currently have, though still not ideal by any means and he does offer us more technical cover for Pogba than we currently have.

In that sense, squad wise allows us if we wish to move on potentially any of Mata, Lingard, Pereirra even Fred too. Unless changing formation though, personally dont see where he improves our first eleven which still also needs addressing.

I think this is a signing I will personally reserve judgement on until our window is complete and finalised, as depending who else we are in for it could swing either way as a good on ein my opinion. Good team and squad signing, not for me an exciting one though

Because many people are utterly clueless. Whether or not this individual transfer works out is irrelevent. As you point out the strategy behind it is correct. A smart way to try and build a squad.

If we picked up Tiago and an attacking wingback we would have had an unbelievable window.

Can't decide what's more surprising. How quickly this transfer happened. How fecking miserable and negative some posters are, or the fact there's seems to be members who don't recognise the great classic post.
