Donald Trump - to the surprise of nobody, got away with everything

I saw that but wondered if it fundamentally changes the charges and the possible repercussions for trump.
The charges haven't changed, they've just removed the bits of the indictment that refered to actions that the SC deemed invalid as offical actions

So it was between him and Biden. Which was bad.
And now it's between him and Harris. Which is also bad.
USA is really spoiled for choice.

Trump stood in front of the press with his team of lawyers from the E.Jean Carroll case lined up behind him and said that he was disappointed with them and then criticised how that handled the hearing this morning.

What a guy.

The judges in the US aren't real judges, nor are they real people.

And yet, we are supposed to act as if they are.

Sounds like the Appeals Court is receptive of Trump's arguments on the NY Civil fraud case.

Interrupting the DA's office over and over. They are questioning the huge penalty verdict. And the application of the law for the NY AG to even try the case. Questioning the "actual harm" caused.

I don't have 40 minutes right now to watch this video. What does the video say about the real Donald Trump?
If Suedesi likes it it will be 7 hours of blowing smoke up Trump’s arse

On the fourth point, I realize now most Americans, or at least many Americans, embrace fantasy to anchor their political views.

There’s always been a substrata of delusion among us Americans, but what we’ve seen over the last decade is on a different level. Why, I have no idea.

“He will be facing serious legal jeopardy if he loses. He knows that,” says Bennett Gershman, a professor of constitutional law at Pace Law School who served for a decade as a New York prosecutor. “It’s probably on his mind every day. He faces four very, very serious cases, in one of which he has already been convicted as a felon. The others are easily convictable.”

My guess is that if he loses this election there’s going to be a shift in the Republican Party from viewing him as their natural leader to viewing him as a busted flush. That will be two elections in a row he’s lost and he’s obviously not getting any younger and is getting more senile so a third isn’t an option.

They’re going to quietly hang him out to dry and let the courts do what they want with him - ideally sending him to prison so he doesn’t take up any more oxygen and in the vacuum that leaves they can make a martyr out of him and weaponise that for the next election.

They are going to drop him like a flaming bag of turd, if he loses. Republicans are nothing if not pragmatic. Just see how they all turned into his willing servants, when he won the candidacy in 2016. Trump will have outlived his use as a tool to get right-wing policy implemented if he doesn't win, and will be of no further use. Their only concern will be not pissing off the MAGA base to an extent where it will hurt themselves electorally.

I mean what else they gonna do? Have him run at 82? His brain is already half dead and at 82 he is gonna be just like Biden or worse.

They tried to drop him after Jan 6 and within a month doubled back and started singing from the old hymn sheet because it was clear that his base was still beholden to him. McTortoise had the chance to rid himself of Trump once and for all and they voted down the impeachment.

Until and unless they get the signal that it's safe to ditch him without significant electoral blowback, they won't, as you said, but I don't see that happening easily or organically, he's already whipping up their frenzy to cover his ass in such scenario. Which is a tad ironic, as the GOP work better as the opposition as opposed to a governing party, but judges and taxes I guess.

He's gonna run until he dies.

The GOP can't pivot away because all they have is the cult.
