Donald Trump - GUILTY!

Its crazy when you think about it. I invite someone I know is a thief to my home and then complain when he steals.

Highlights the main problem: 24 hour cable news run by for profit institutions. CNNs new CEO is not tasked with running a good news source, he's tasked with making money. It's transparently disgusting, and I encourage everyone never touching a CNN property again. But, it's just another area where raw markets shouldn't be used.

There are public non-profit new sources like NPR or CSPAN, even outlets like CNBC or Bloomberg are largely drama free.

People just like their infotainment, that’s the vice of the species, not just on cable news.

The reality is that CNN are going back to their old school early 80s roots of covering both parties. If the GOP put up a demagogue like Trump, they are still obliged to cover the leading candidates. It is however their responsibility to push back against his usual litany of lies, which she did a pretty good job of last night.

The best quote of the night was afterwards by Jake Tapper: We don't have enough time to cover all the lies

Thinking if there's any way that I can feck CNN. Cancelling my overall cable subscription seems like shooting myself in the foot, because I use that mainly to watch football and F1.

I ditched cable a while back. You can watch most things online these days.

But if a PL game is on USA for example, it's not also available on Peacock. So you need a cable subscription that includes USA, even to watch it on NBC's website. Or do you have an over-the-top plan for that too?

Who remembers the pushback?
Trump ignored Collins and continued his incessant lies.
The idea you have to be equivalent despite knowing something is an outright lie is what led this country to Brexit.

You can stream PL football if you know where to look + you can get the likes of YouTube TV or Sling

Everyone does. She literally interrupted him every time he lied, which is what she was supposed to do. It also disrupted his ability to gain any momentum in anything he was saying because she kept interjecting.

we’ll see if that catches on. people said the same about porn mags and the internet but hardly anyone watches porn online.

There’s ways to never miss a game while going sans cable.

I think she did a pretty good job, especially in the second half, Trump was clearly flustered because he resorted to calling her nasty, when he does that you know he doesn't like the way it's going

I'd argue this doesn't change anything. The people that rightfully hate Trump are not surprised, and the people that were already on Team Trump will continue to be so. If anything the more negative attention Trump gets, the easier it could be for the Democratic nominee, as normal, non-political or centrists might be motivated to ensure he doesn't retake the office.

But it's a sad indictment of America, that probably tens of millions of people are going to vote for this animal. Hopefully age catches up with him soon, so he either dies or becomes incapable of causing more harm.

You forget that negative attention is negative for you but not for others that might be positive or neutral. The key is attention. Without attention he is nothing

Cnn's own analysis questions who was served with that nonsense last night.

Analysis: CNN faces harsh criticism after Trump unleashed a firehose of lies during its live town hall

It’s hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN Wednesday evening.

Kaitlan Collins is as tough and knowledgable of an interviewer as they come. She fact-checked Trump throughout the 70-minute town hall. Over and over and over again, she told him that the election was not stolen. That it was not rigged. That there was no evidence for the lies he was disseminating on stage.

“The election was not rigged, Mr. President,” Collins told Trump at one point during the event. “You cannot keep saying that all night long.”

Yet, he did. Trump frequently ignored or spoke over Collins throughout the evening as he unleashed a firehose of disinformation upon the country, which a sizable swath of the GOP continues to believe. A professional lie machine, Trump fired off falsehoods at a rapid clip while using his bluster to overwhelm Collins, stealing command of the stage at some points of the town hall.

Trump lied about the 2020 election. He took no responsibility for the January 6 insurrection that those very lies incited. And he mocked E. Jean Carroll’s allegations of sexual assault, which a jury found him liable for on Tuesday.
Clearly showing that this was a top down mandated decision by Licht. And it serves no purpose other than to offer Trump airtime for lies and fundraising. And on top of that it embarrasses the network and made Kaitlyn look lightweight and out of her depth despite them being kind to her saying she did a good job.

As long as advertisers don't start bailing or they start losing their top talent in frustration we might expect more of this nonsense in the campaign season. This is exactly what they did in 2016 with Trump. Carrying every lie, every rally just handing him airtime.

I've figured it out. I'm cancelling HBO Max once Succession is done. All owned by Warner. That's my micro protest.

As Murdoch himself said; it’s not or red or blue but green.
CNN went for the money. Fcuk them and the horse they rode in on.

A town hall with Republican supporters and "independents who will vote in the Republican New Hampshire primary" where the lone voice of objection comes from a journalist who used to work for the Daily Caller.

I didnt know she was from right wing media. I don't get what CNN are doing here. They can't go further right than Fox which is what the Fox audience actually wants. The viewers Fox have lost didn't stop watching because they wanted a moderate republican news network, they left because they wanted Carlson's slanted head shouting about woke power rangers or some other pointless bs. Unless they hire him, they're only pissing off the audience they might get.

Kind of a ridiculous statement. You gave him a platform to tell lies every man and his dog knew he was going to tell.
Yeah but it'll keep them occupied, without Trump they'd have nothing much to report

They probably think Village People were just good Christian fun. They have a song about the YMCA after all, nothing less gay than that.

It's like people who think Born in the USA is a patriotic song. Or people who think Fortunate Son is a patriotic song. Or people who think Rockin' in the Free World is a patriotic song. Or...

Or this guy.

Rage fans who get pissy when the band says something political will never not be funny to read.

He won’t be able to stop himself from truthing the wrong shit. Nothing will happen to him, of course, but being treated like a recalcitrant school boy will be fun to watch…
