Eh, Ronaldo is probably the main reason for our attacking struggles. His runs are shit. His hold up play is shit. His control is shit. He can't make any situation any better when he gets the ball because he is slow, weak, stiff. His decision making is atrocious, constantly takes selfish decisions or selfish movements. Even the 1 thing that he could be useful for, his aerial prowess, has gone to shit and his confidence is dead on top of all that. So yeah.

It won't take until he leaves. It'll just take until we get injured players back. Sancho, Antony, Martial, Bruno all being out make *just a little bit* of an impact.

Good post. He’s brutal. Barely troubled them whatsoever apart from those handbags with Mings because he wasn’t getting a sniff.
 
Bin him. You can see a mile away he inspires absolutely none of the other players out there. It's all about him. Narcissist gonna narcissist. You wouldn't mind if he was still a great player. 100% finito.
 
Here's a scary thought, if he isn't finished as a top level player, how awful will he be when he is?

Maybe there is but it certainly involves Martial, Sancho and Antony being fit, VDB not being on the pitch, and Bruno being available for selection.
 
I hope EtH is just taking the soft approach for a few weeks before he kicks him out in January.
 
At this point it is so obvious that there has to be an ulterior motive in playing him. Showing the board/Murtough, this is what having him here leads to. And we need a replacement

I agree. The hope is that once CR7 and United part ways, the rest of our attack and any potential new signings will be quote unquote 'unlocked'.
 
He now needs all his chances putting on a plate for him and still misses. He used to be able to create his own chances, defenders feared him, now they don't. When the opposition fear goes you are done.

We'll need to make these new signings though. Need a striker that can provide the things Martial can, because his fitness can't be trusted and you know he'll be out before long. Plus just takes time for these things to click. It's only a few months into Ten Hag's reign here. We've improved our off the ball defensive work immensely. We've improved our build up play immensely, but also we lack anyone who can carry the ball in any way through the middle. The final third movements, decisions, cohesiveness just takes time to get coached properly, but also is directly tied to player quality and confidence...

It normally doesn`t bother me too much who is captain but to have Ronaldo lead us out today after the way he has behaved towards the club doesn`t seem right. I really hope we find a way to get rid of him in January but I think we will struggle to find anyone to take him and we will be stuck with him. After the Spurs game I thought things were looking up and he would be starting far less games and used more from the bench but that doesn`t seem to be happening, if anything he is playing even more and the fluidity of our game has suffered. No doubt Martial will play in the league cup midweek with Ronaldo rested for the weekend, it really wouldn`t surprise me.
 
I can only hope Ten Hag’s decision today re: the armband was a Jose-esque attempt to give him enough rope to hang himself, but I’m not sure that’s his style - but then also I can’t believe Ten Hag would watch him and believe he’s performing up to standard.

I really hope we get shut in Jan, or Ten Hag regrows his balls and shunts him to the bench again or I’m not sure I can face watching the second half of the season.
 
There was a bit today where he took the ball from Rashford or Garnacho, his touch took him almost to the left byline and then he squared up the villa defender and then nothing. No stepover, no attempt to try anything. Just stood up, waited a second and the defender just took the ball from him and ran off.

He's lost his feet. He barely even gets shots off now because he just isn't quick on his feet anymore.

But if any other clubs transfer gurus are reading this, he's really good and it's the rest of the team costing him. We can't keep up with him.
 
His cheerleaders are noticeably silent about his performances. All his "a goal every 2 games" merchants have gone into hiding.
 
On the captain thing: there's a set order/hierarchy, ETH doesn't select the captain on a game-to-game basis. Ronaldo has been 3rd choice all season, so unless you think he should've been "demoted" after the Spurs incident (which wouldn't have made much sense if you ask me), it was always going to be him given that neither Maguire nor Bruno played.

He's only in because of injuries. But yeah I didn't like him being captain. He was likely 3rd captain since he joined, but he should've been demoted from the Spurs incident.
 
Maybe in another league (Spanish) he will be as successful as he once was, but he doesn't have the strength to bully the opposition as he used to and that's what hinders him in England.
