Perhaps as RB. Also think Atletico wants Fabinho as RB. Even if Atletico looks to replace Gabi with Rodrigo signing it makes no sense for them to get Fabinho if not for RB position. This can enable us to go for Sime Vrsaljko (Atletico RB).

Fabinho did mention he wants to play RB more as he sees it as an easier route to get into the Selecao. Getting Fabinho also means we have another option at DM in case Matic is injured or needs a rest.

Just said in another thread. We shouldn't pay big for rotational option. It should for starter material. Getting Fred then he can both start in midfield 3 and midfield 2 when Matic is rested. That's more sensible. Fabinho is more defensive so it may not work in midfield 3 since it again burden Pogba too much with responsibility to create. So question is whether we see him as our first choice RB purchase.

Because if you actually watched him you’ll know he’s nowhere near top class in this position or any for that. Nice player but nowhere near starting 11 regular quality in this set up.

Getting new full backs will be our most important acquisitions this transfer season imo.

The diamond can be fluid and great to watch. It’s all about how good the players adapt to it. We need more runners in the full back position and a bit more quality in midfield.
