Could be both. Mixing is an art in itself although you could argue that the original producer sometimes gets less recognition than the DJ which is quite bizarre.

Its seamlessly mixing a series of tracks (songs) together. The tracks are usually not written by the DJ.

Really want to do the like 20-30 mins DJing at the campsite at Leeds festival and it has inspired me to try and make my own Dubstep Mix. Im unbelievably shit. I really don't get how to use the software or really make a good mix from one song to another. It just sounds really bad. :(

Id love to get one to the quality of what you lot have. I'd ask if i could slap up some tunes and someone made a mix for me but I'm guessing they take a lot of time and effort and then to let someone else use their work..

Getting some decks for practicing on
Going out and getting chatting to promoters/dj's etc
Once you feel you are good enough to play in public get a mix recorded
Start handing it out to whoever you can, pubs/bars etc
Sit back and be very patient
Offer to do flyering etc to get yourself liked by the promoters
Make sure you can promise to bring a load of mates to the nights
Be prepared to do shit sets, like 30 mins at the beginning of the night
Look up online radio stations, see if they have any free slots
give them your mixes for them to play when no dj's are playing

Completely new to the whole mixing scene. Started about approx a month ago or so. Something in my spare time which in all honesty has turned into one of my favourite pass times.

I've not got all the top of the range gear that I wish I had but I made this using Virtual DJ. My first decent attempt in my own opinion.
