Divock Origi

To be fair, falcao could easily be named among the premier leagues' worst players this season. Players can have bad seasons especially at a young age.

8 goals in 33 game is a great ratio for a 20-year-old. He also got 3 assists.
That's not too bad, is it.

He also scored a hat-trick and picked up a few MoM awards, all of which I'm fairly certain would be beyond the 4th worst player to ever grace the league.

If he scored a hat-trick that makes the 8 in 33 stat even less impressive, as it means he racked up 5 in 32. Chris Smalling had a better strike-rate.

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be that he has the quality but lacks consistency, which wouldn't be too criminal for a fella who turned 20 a month ago. Furthermore, he only played 20 games at center forward, during which he scored 7 and assisted 2. He might have had an underwhelming season but this one of the league's worst ever players stuff must surely be nonsense.

Surely he won't do any worse than Lambert, Borini or Balotelli has?

I'm sure it probably is. Haven't watched the bloke, so can't comment on his performances. Am just enjoying the schadenfruede tbh.

Nothing wrong with that and I've really no idea why I'm not joining in. Maybe I just feel that it's too easy to laugh at Liverpool these days.

Far too young to be definitively awful. Still a very good chance he ends up a fine player, one truly shit season won't change that, though it does sound like he might have an attitude problem if he half assed half the season because he wasn't released to Liverpool in January.

Christ comments on here from those who I bet have hardly watched him play this season, you just remember him from last years world cup. You're telling me you've followed Lille and this lads progress all season. No, just going off some stats and the stigma from some shit French rag to draw up a conclusion. The fact is it's our fault for mismanaging him, he shouldn't have been returned back to a team thats been so poor this season anyway. He should of been loaned out to a lower prem/championship pushing club.

@Rooney in Dublin has some input here I think...

He's very raw still and has had an underwhelming season. No idea why the Scousers are now trying to attribute this to Lille being a poor team (even if they're nothing special), he's been average the few times I've watched him. Dunno about that flop of the season team, dunno which outlet made it, but if it was l'Equipe, they're hardly a 'rag'.

I've had the chances to see him play and honestly even if there is a little exaggeration in calling the worst, he really was in terrible throughout the season. Never understood the hype about him, plenty of players have had decent World Cups only for their true level to reveal itself in club football.

What's the English equivalent of L'Equipe? The Sun? Mail? Guardian? Telegraph?

The funniest thing is that I personally thought he looked nothing more than raw talent at the World Cup. Not even an exceptional talent, at that.

I thought he looked decent at the world cup and to be honest, thought it was a very good deal for Liverpool when they signed him. I am quietly relieved that he doesnt seem to be all that, but similarly I think it would be foolish to write him off already.

I don't read English newspapers enough to be able to make a comparison, but it's a big newspapers devoted to sports. From what I gather on here, it's nowhere near The Sun or Mail, it's a respectable newspaper even though I don't always agree with their positions or editorial line. They're definitely not a 'rag', by any means.

Yes of course. I believe most of us are just stating what's been witnessed this year though, and Liverpool fans' stance in trying to portray it differently is a little disingenuous, in my opinion.

On the basis of what I've seen so far, I believe he's too raw to ever become a top player, though he might turn out decent. That's just my guess though.

Yeah, we will see, I hope he flops at Liverpool of course, but we have seen players in the past who have suddenly kicked on and developed at a later age than normal... If the raw talent is there then there is definitely a chance.

So raw in fact he needs to go to a manager that has a history of making good players out of raw? Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez and Ibe perhaps?

Origi:

"I think Liverpool is a wonderful club that deserves to be at the top and to be honest with the players they have, with the quality they have, then they should be finishing at the top of the league.

"I'm very happy to be going there. Brendan Rodgers is a very good coach and he has proved that so it will be very exciting to work with a world-class coach.

He reminds me of el-hadji diouf.

Played a couple of good games and liverpool bought into all the hype.

Seems like he is a RAWK poster, too.
