Diogo Dalot | Done Deal | Speaks better English than Valencia

No it's not negative at all just a simple thought. Actually I'm quite excited to see what he can do because I'm sure that anyone is better than Valencia right now but why not just use TFM?

Because this guy might be better? Why did we buy Wayne rooney instead of trying kieran Richardson?

What's with the insistence on using a defensive oriented fullback like Fosu-Mensah in the era of Carvajal, Kimmich, Semedo and co. This lad is a proper fullback, a burgeoning thoroughbred, as it were: good in both offense and defense, and potentially very, very good when you consider his skill set and maturity at a young age. Whereas Fosu-Mensah's offensive production is quite erratic — which isn't all his fault, to be fair to him, because he is more of a defensive or midfield stopper who's being asked to play out wide - and not a specialist.
Thank you for typing out my thoughts! You can’t cream about City’s technically gifted players and want TFM as your right back at the same time.

Valencia still had a decent season overall and will still be an important player next season I'm sure. Mou loves him, and tbh, I've always been a huge fan. He has an impossible task out there, considering we never have a right sided attacker in front of him, and the rest of the defence is shambolic and always injured. Dalot will hopefully rotate with Tony to keep him fresh and eventually take over.

As for Fosu Mensah... pretty sure hes just not actually very good. Fast, strong, but more of an athlete then a footballer if you know what I mean. Never seemed like an intelligent player to me. Didnt really stick out for palace either.

Fosu-Mensah is a bit of a myth. He's not even a right back.

This guy sound promising, I like signings such as this. They tend to work out better for us. Basically everyone who has seen him play rate him highly for the future.

Apparently he has a meniscus tear injury, hopefully not too bad if any of the Liga watchers could shed any light on that? Hopefully fit for pre-season. He did it late April (according ti TransferMarkt), if it's just a meiscus he should be fine for July.

Someone was wondering which negative will be found with transfer.

And what is there to be positive about ?

It should be clear as day that we need a serious quality injection on both fullback positions if we want to start challenging for major silverware. You would expect we are signing someone who is established and can be an immediate starter for us. What chance on that do you have with a 19 year old who has only played 6 games so far in the portguese first league ? I mean no offence to the player, he looks really good for a 19 year old player, he might become a star in a few years, that is great for him but we really need someone who is already a star and we need them right now. So this signing makes absolutley no sense for me, especially given how Mourinho is so wonderfully patient with young players, like someone said if this kid makes a mistake, it will be Valencia again for the rest of the season and where does that leave us in terms of progress ?

We just can't win can we?

When we buy established players - why aren't we buying guys like De Ligt? Why bother buying these old dudes when we can have the next best thing!

When we buy youngsters - why are we buying youngsters? We need quality now!
spot on.

He will be 30 in 11 years.
Wtf? In that case, do not want!

Unlike Fabinho who was wanted by Liverpool and Atletico. We win, we win. Yeeeey.

Sheer incompetence to lose our best youth product in 20 years (along with Neves) for mere 20M when he would be a starter next season. The only solace is that at least he is going to United and not some third rate club. It's sad that clubs like mine can't hold onto their youth products even before they complete one full season for the senior team but it's the state of modern football where money talks.

Is he good enough ?

Looks decent enough from a youtube vid, but the level opposition there looked mainly to be youth so no idea how it'd translate to the top level.

Do badly new fullbacks and there aren't many top ones available so hopefully this is us doing what Liverpool have done with their fullbacks.

He's good then?

If there's no better, top drawer option available for the right fee - I'd take this with the caveat that he actually gets a lot of game-time. Valencia simply cannot start every game if we're to challenge for anything (same goes for LB and Young). We need freshening up on both flanks.

Whatever, Fabinho's a better right back.
Pls bite

He's walk into this Liverpool side. Unless you think fecking Arnold is ahead of him?
Clyne even?
Klopp would prefer developing a young talent imo. Arnold much better attacking wise while Valencia is overrated for his defensive contribution imo

Trying to remember the last young Porto player to join a Prem side. Helder Postiga?

I would take this signing if we actually had a coach who can tolerate mistakes from young players instead of throwing them under the buss and reverting to his old known players at the first sign of trouble.

Valencia will still play the majority of the time and we will not improve much at all compaired to this year. If we are lucky and this guy is the real deal we will have a good rightback in a year or 2 which is essentially 2 years too late.

Omg it’s been 2 hours since this was reported and he’s not signed yet fs omg.
So slow compared to Liverpool, as usual.
Lol
