People need to chill out over how long transfers take. You have to bear in mind that United have a very good reputation for supporting the players in making a move to the club. We look after everything for them and their families, particularly in cases where a young player is involved so we have to consult with their families which adds more time.

If you were offered a job in another country would you have all the details sorted within a few days? - immigration, passports, visa, financials, finding a house or temporary accommodation, taxes, furniture, kids schools or Nanny, moving funds across borders - the list of things to sort can be long and involve other peoples choices to move with the player or find new providers.

I think that United take a different approach than other clubs in this area because they know players are likely to come under greater scrutiny playing for United, so like to ensure the player and their family is some way along the path to sorting this stuff out before they announce the deal.

Other clubs can get away with a quick photo of player holding the shirt and the other stuff gets sorted in the few days after. Trying to sort out all those domestic things in the full glare of publicity of joining United would be a nightmare.

only agree with the first sentence, he will be an understudy to Valencia for sure, who's got still one season left in him, rotated with Young and Dalot, then we sign a LB who will replace Shaw, think this one will be more experienced - meaning a starter or someone who will realistically compete with Young. If we sign Dalot we won't sign another RB, especially when we have TFM to play there too..

So LB: YOung, NEW LB, Dalot
RB: Valencia, Young, Dalot

Granting very probable situation that Shaw is sold, Dalot can play both sides of the defense which is good for his gametime and for us that we can use the squad spot for someone else. On left he would play a bit like Young cutting back and crossing with his right, it would be a bit predictable but at least it makes the players drill some situations and understand each other well. Dalot will be signed as a Darmain replacement - a backup RB, with an option to play on the left too, a prospect who may takeover from Valencia hopefully. But let's see

Exactly, it isn't as simple as some think.

It's been only about 10 or 11 days since Di Marzio said Fred was done, and only 6 days since Castles' article about Dalot. So it's not even that "these transfers have taken time", because they really haven't. The problem lies with people F5'ing every 10 seconds and absorbing every single rumour via osmosis.

Finally some real competition for Valencia. Kid looks good on those youtube clips. Lets hope he fairs better than our last right back signing Guillermo Varela.

We all know we need a new RB. However let's be frank no one had heard of this guy 2 weeks ago. Utd should be buying first team players who can come straight in and do a job, we are already overstacked with average squad players

Thats harsh I like Martial and I'd never heard of him either. Everyone starts off un known I for one would be the first to moan (and am the first to moan) when other clubs pick up talent cheap whilst we always way top dollar. I trust Mou especially with a player from his own country.

I don't think Dalot is at the top of Mourinho's transfer list so he can be a backup for Valencia. I think Mourinho will give him the opportunity to win the RB job because Valencia in so poor at crossing and Mourinho's big buy at CF needs good service from the fullbacks to make that big transfer fee pay off.

Big clubs with well staffed scouting departments knew Dalot was the best RB in Europe at every stage of his development and knew he would be available for 20m July 1st if he didn't sign an extension by then. The Mourinho connection with Portugal and Porto, along with a clear path to the starting RB job, gave United the advantage over the rest of Europe's biggest clubs.

Ah yes of course he does. Chelsea were near the bottom of the league when he was sacked and Conte won the title the following season with the same players. He signed Bailly and Lindelof and then chose not to trust them in the latter part of the season. Dalot jesus christ
