Diogo Dalot | Done Deal | Speaks better English than Valencia

Nope, at least from the videos I’ve seen of him

Can equally whip in a cross from either foot which is a relief :D

Yess! Thank God for that then! If he has to cover for someone at leftback at least he wouldn't have to check inside every time like Ashley Young does :D:D

I don't know if it's used in England but here we would say he has both legs. :D in the sense he uses both for crossing and shit.

Can't say I've seen or even heard of this guy before, but has all the ingredients to excite. Young player who is seemingly highly rated, and for a decent fee. Yup, I'll take that. Yes we wanted an immediate replacement for Valencia to upgrade our full backs, but I'd be happy with this combined with a new starting left back. Plus he may be young and inexperienced now, but I don't buy this "he can be cover for 2-3 years until he's ready" stuff. If he's good enough and develops enough, there's no reason he can't make the right back slot his own by the end of this season. Age and experience doesn't matter if you can deliver now.

Is it possible we sign him and loan him to Wolves for a season?

Should get regular football there and would ease him into English football surrounded by Portugese.

No issues here, fantastic signing. FM legend.

We just need to add a LB, Alex Sandro or Tierney would be great

Hopefully this works out as well as the handover to Neville and Rafael (without the injuries of course).

heard its done from a mate at the club. never heard of the guy to be honest but early business is good to see.

Valencia used to cross well before joining us and for a while for us too. For some reason unknown to me, he has become terrible now.
Seeing it on a youtube comp isn't enough for me

Remember this? Diogo Dalot was born the day after.

I feel old. :(

@Invictus was talking this guy up weeks ago as the unknown alternative to the forum favourites. Which for me is more than good enough.

What kind of shitty logic is this?

The logic that it's obvious to everyone that our fullbacks are miles behind the competition, and if our only signing there is a 19 year old kid not expected to replace Valencia then we're going into the season not addressing the biggest weakness in our squad.

Valencia had that explosive burst of pace which allowed him to get space ahead of defenders to whip in a low and fast cross. Since he lost that extra pace he has become terrible.

Even if we spend a lot of money on LB? Also if this kid is as good as being stated, he has every chance to displace Valencia over the course of the season.

Perhaps, but I'd read little in to the Caf suddenly deciding a player they've never heard of and have rarely if ever seen play is good because we have been linked with him.

So we avoid signing good young players altogether?

Of course not, it's just people can't come running to kick their toys out of the pram next season about us not competing if our only attempt to address a glaring deficiency between us and our competition is signing said young kid.

I never thought we would buy a LB and a RB. If it is a LB + Dalot, i am fine with it. Jose seems to like Valencia a lot, even if he isnt great going forward.

No idea who it is, not going to pretend to be happy or disappointed - but nice to see us go for someone off the radar a bit. Big names haven't served us too well in recent times.

The point I am making is that you are overreacting. If we sign a player for LB and this kid its a decent move given we also need to spend money elsewhere like CM and also CB and possibly even a RW or a backup striker.

Know nothing about him, but we should be replacing both our fullbacks, not finding long term successors

Then we'll be going into the season with a squad which has obvious deficiencies at RB.

Fair enough if people are happy with that situation, but given how much people have been pissing and moaning for the past few months I thought the expectations were for us to challenge next season?

So you think we should spend all the money on RB and LB and then have obvious deficiencies at RW or CB?
We can't fix all the problems in one window.
And you can win a title with deficiencies at RB just like City did with deficiencies at LB, its clear the right side of our attack is a much bigger issue than RB

His name doesn't sound like a name in my accent/language. But I like it!

No, I think that if we go in to the season with the same obvious deficiencies in the squad as we did this one people can't realistically expect anything else other than a season as also rans.

Besides, a huge part of the problem with our attack on the right side is caused by Valencia's ineptitude going forward so it's a bit unfair to try and separate our issues at RW and RB and pretend they're unrelated.

I disagree, Valencia going forward is an issue, but the reason he sticks out like a sore thumb is that we never really have an attacking outlet in front of him. I don't think that can really be denied. If we had a real attacking threat down the RW then Valencia for a season wouldn't be that bad.

We dont have any naturally inclined right sided attacker or anyone who wants to play there so whilst Tony has struggled its just as much to do with our lack of balance as it is with him.

Man Utd sign established player between the ages of 27 and 30

Caf: Feck sake, why are we signing 50 year olds and not building for the future instead!

Man Utd sign talented youngster

Caf: Feck sake, what a joke, kid has barely played any games and I've never seen him paly so what can he possibly do for us
