Diego León

Not sure what's wrong with that to be honest. Guys a 17 year old and just met one of the best players in world football for the last decade.

Guys an absolute unit btw. Haven't seen him play but apparently he's quick as feck.
What's wrong is - he is joining the club where brothers Nevilles' would not even acknowledge each other in the tunnel before the game, and the club of Roy Keane who would have very clear perspective about treating rival club player as a hero. Clearly Leon has no understanding of any of that and no ability to read the room.

I am not saying it is a crime, but he doesn't seem very bright failing not understand it looks shitty. 17 is young for some things, not young enough to be so clueless :)

Not sure if this is a serious post.

New country, new culture. You're talking about people who played 25 years ago, it's not the same anymore.

Come on guys. It's not like he swapped shirts after a derby defeat or whatever. Many of our players hang out with players from rival clubs.

Nonsense

Young player from South America flies to Europe, gets to meet one of football's best players over the last decade and wants a photo. Shocking.

De Bruyne treating a rival club player as a hero. Clearly has no understanding or ability to read the room. Not saying it's a crime, but failing to understand it looks shitty.

Nobody is going to give a shit if when he actually plays for us, he marks De Bruyne or Savinho out of the game. Will be a funny picture to bring back if thats what happens

Very strange 2 posts on this subject, it's just a photo he doesn't even play for us yet

I’d say fair play to the lad for taking a moment to greet the fans. You can see de Bruyne is buzzing in the picture, not every day you get to meet a United player in person.

Caicedo and Sesko for me. Not sure Martinelli is any better than the players we've had at LW since he's been at Arsenal.

The former two though...both would be ready to play in the EPL for us if we'd just signed them and loaned them out until they were ready.

Edit: should probably mention Haaland too, but I hate that cyborg.
Martinelli would have been a squad player but he's been worth what, £40m/£50m at peak? I use him as an example as we apparently had him on trial four times but didn't sign him. That's madness in my opinion. If you're bringing him in on three separate occasions for a close look and decide he warrants a 4th trail...how are you not paying the 500K?

Haaland another good shout. Bizarre behaviour from the club

De Bruyne is probably smiling because he knows that this kid has no idea what offshore accounts are, not where he's at.

You are obviously entitled to see it differently, but something tells me Sir Alex, the last great manager of ours, and the guy who had staff cover Man City logo with a towel, before he would seat at Etihad, would have cancelled this 17 year old ignorant's contract if he'd pulled such bullshit during Sir Alex's time. Just a wild guess

The game and society have changed. Most players from other clubs mix with each other, especially those from abroad.

Can't tell if you are being serious or not but if you are then what an utterly ridculous way to frame this.

There is no way to tell if Sir Alex himself was being serious, or if he was trolling CIty :D How can anybody know if some anonymous poster on some forums is serious )

I have annoyingly high hopes for this lad. Will be curious to see if we keep him around the squad to settle or throw him in the deep end on loan.

90 minutes and a booking as Paraguay beat Peru 2-1 in the CONMEBOL Sudamericano U20 opener.

We have played without a left back for 18 months, which is a total joke in and of itself. The door is literally wide open for this kid.

So do I, but more so that these are exactly the type of transfers we should be doing.

Which kid? all I see is a 35 y.o man with bracers.

I think he looks fantastic in video highlights. Yes he looks very fast, but he looks to have a good touch and able to pick out teammates well. He looks quite well rounded with the ball.

My only concern is the obvious one which is that he'll probably take 18 months before he gets a look in the first team due to settling in and being completely ready for adult football. But for me he is the guy who is going to take the left wingback spot in 18 months to 2 years if we don't sign someone who makes the spot their own now. And even if they do, he'll give them great competition and might take the spot anyway

Starting for Paraguay U20's tonight.

Here is the live stream on YT for anyone that wants to watch.

It’s really odd that we’ve just signed another left back who’s 2/3 years older than this guy. We’ve also got Amass who’s one of our most highly rated prospects in the same position.

3 highly rated talents fighting it out for one position is gonna hamper their growth you’d imagine.

Keeps everyone on their toes, and only the best survives.

We’ve to get rid of the days where players are given starting roles which they don’t deserve.

Rashford’s career would be different if we didn’t spoil him.

Nah 3 highly rated talents and only 2 at max will survive is a good thing. We can just sell the rest.

We also made sure there's enough variance in there. A 17 y.o who looks 17. A 20 y.o who looks 18 and a 17 y.o.who looks 28. So you can tell we made sure to pay attention to metabolism.

My guess is Diego Leon will be a success. We have seen it time and time again players who look older than their age peers ended up being successful. The Diego Costas of the world.

TBF. the poor guy played under 5 managers in a space of like 8 years. That definitely didnt help his development or motivation.

Yea but Diego Leon is only 17 and I believe Amass is the same age. You'd expect they are a few years away from being ready if they are going to make it here.

I believe Dorgu can play RWB too which can give us options.
