Yeah the Caicedo and Martinelli examples stand out in particular as bizarre transfer decisions.
If we think a player has even half a chance of making a PL footballer at 18 and they're available for £3.5m and £0.5m respectively then I cannot fathom the logic of not taking the gamble when you're happy to fork-out £243m for Maguire, Pogba and Sancho.
How bad would a player have to be to lose money on a £3.5m or £0.5m signing? They'd have to lose a leg to sign for United and not end-up being worth that!

Why do we have a performance thread for him this season? He won’t be playing for United until next season and I’d expect him to go into the u21 to adapt. And we don’t create performance threads for them until they make first team appearances.

You're really reading far too much into this one...
Caicedo I agree with but Martinelli went on numerous trials around PL clubs, so it wasn't just United who missed out. Plus, I don't think he's that spectacular, very inconsistent and would say Garnacho is just as good on his day and I don't think Garnacho is top bracket level of talents either.
If he's good enough, he'll make it, the only person who can make it happen is Amass.

Caicedo and Sesko for me. Not sure Martinelli is any better than the players we've had at LW since he's been at Arsenal.
