I'd sign him tomorrow. Deadly and a battering ram. Why Chelsea want to get shot of him I dont know. I recognise he aint a spring chicken but he's still got such a presence.

Didier's agent conveyed to Catalan television that he is negotiating with Zubi & the club at the request of the player right around the time of the Copa Del Rey Final...Local media is building some momentum on a possible deal to be offered to Drogba for 2 years - rumoured at more than 6 million in annual wages

Am I misunderstanding you or are you saying Drogba went to Barca, told them he wanted to join them and asked to negotiate without any move on their part? Or do you mean Drogba has told his agent he is willing to negotiate after Barca made a move?

His agent communicated to a local station that Didier has instructed him to negotiate a transfer to Barcelona...There must've been interest from the other direction as well, obviously...No way to be certain who contacted whom first but as I mentioned last summer, when momentum builds towards a particular player there's usually something to it

Is this Plan B?

It's probably more a plan C but an alternative nevertheless...A strong center forward who can command attention and not require a ton of space or time to score...It could be a perfect fit but who knows how these things work out ultimately

I read some rumours that they might be interested in Berbatov.

He'd be perfect, a poorer version of Zlatan but without the attitude problems.

Why would he want to go from not playing at United to not playing at Barcelona? Thought I read some comments a a few weeks ago about him being sick of it.

Ibrahimovic didnt work and Barcelona have moved on since then anyway. Berbatov would be competing with Messi for a spot up front...

Sounds like anything but perfect.

Yeah i can just amagine him flying around the pitch closing down the defenders in that famous barcelona press

how would it improve them?

How would he not? against teams like chelsea recently in the CL when they were camped in there penalty box, they were crying out for a player like drogba too get on the end of a cross or make a nuisance of himself too get some space.

The small lightweight technique players work fine in an open game, but it has been proved a few times this year that a deep lying defence with tough midfielders ahead can stop them breaking you down.

Switzerland did the same thing in the WC against spain.

Drogba would add a real target for them, and would make the defence worry alot more than say sanchez or villa

same logic for ibra

Forget Ibra. They just had a team that was playing almost perfectly together, but they won't get that anymore and they need another striker. From watching them a few times this season, I was surprised to see the amount of crosses they put into the box now. Even if Drogba is a plan b, he'll be useful. I think its time that they adapted to that sort of player if they want to break down these ultra defensive tactics being used against them.

Ibra was hardly a failure, pep just didnt like the way they played with him in the team because it didnt let messi play down the middle.

ASFAIK drogba would be a plan b, which is absolutely fine.

Too be the best team in the world, you need more than 1 string too your bow; before barca never had this problem, but this year proved they arent invincible.

So you think Guardiola signed him and then was upset that using him meant he couldnt use Messi in the middle?

What do you think he has the attention span of a goldfish or something? He'd have known that before he signed him. Ibrahimovic wasnt the Imbrahimovic of Serie A in Barcelona's system. It didnt work, there were barely any moments of magic and they wanted rid. He wasnt their type of striker at all. Messi moving to the middle was after Villa showed he could play on the left for Spain

If they sign Drogba guess that means the end of Messi as the striker?

They should move him wide left IMO. Their left winger cuts inside all the time anyway, but Messi would be more natural there and free up Iniesta to partner Xavi in the middle again.

We would get to see more of the crazy combo of Messi+Alves then
Look at that goal on 01:16

The last goal is something else

I think its quite clear the Ibra transfer was nothing too do with Guardiola, it was a transfer made by the board too appease the fans.

Why on earth would Messi be natural on the left? He's not a touchline-hugging winger, putting him on the left would completely negate many of his strengths.

Iniesta partnered Xavi in the middle for the best part of this season, he rarely played in the front three. Sánchez, Pedro, Cuenca, Tello were all preferred.

The Berb would get six minutes to win the ball back as opposed to the six seconds. Nobody rushes The Berb!

Looks like he wants Barca which is fair enough I guess however it may be somewhat unlikely, so realistically, with us moving Owen on, we could a lot worse than him surely?

You surely cannot be this clueless.Playing on the left doesn't Messi would play as a touchline-hugging winger ffs
Have you missed the Barca treble season and the season after ?

He played on the right, not on the left.

You could play Messi left, right or center and he'd still dominate. Much like Ronaldo. I don't see how lining up Messi to the left or right of Drogba would take away from his game. Scary to think of a Villa/Drogba/Messi forward line.

Why? They had arguably the best CF in the game in Eto'o. Was it to allow Messi to shine even more?

No, guardiola didnt like eto'o's bad attitude and wanted rid.

They say they let him stay because he worked harder 1 year longer than expected, but got rid of both him, deco and ronaldinho because he didnt suit the new style he wanted too build.

Ibra was hardly a failure anyway, he scored alot of goals.
