Did he really play for them?

That Andy Cole pictures got me googling Collins John’s whereabouts

I played Fulham a lot on PES.
Good back up for Brian mcBride.
4-4-2

Tomas Radzinski mcBride
Boa Morte Malbranque
C. Jensen
Papa Bouba Diop (RIP)

Bocanegra P. Christanval Z. Rehman Volz

Kessey Keller

*Don't remember much my first choice CB pairing (sometimes played Bocanegra as CB)

Rangers could have one of these alone. Gennaro Gattuso played for Rangers..

Frank De Boer, Ronald De Boer, van Bronkhorst, Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, Henning Berg, Tore Andre Flo, Andrei Kanchelskis

I also forgot that @Paolo Di Canio played for Celtic early in his career

Laudrup played more for Rangers than for any other club though.

I thought he retired at Fulham

I had no idea Ivan Toney was once at Newcastle until very recently. Knew Brentford signed him from Peterborough and I assumed he'd always been playing further down the league ladder.

he started in our academy but left at about 14-15

Not deemed good enough at the time or for other reasons? Wikipedia is telling me is from Northampton and ended up there so maybe that was just easier for him in terms of travel.

I like these sorts of stories when a player has to drop down before eventually making it back to the big time. Vardy ending up with you, Kevin Phillips etc.

I think he wanted out but not really sure

Chelsea have had a few like that.

Pato, Higuain, Falcao, Eto’o, Aubameyang, Joao Felix, Shevchenko, Crespo…

and the weird thing is they always flop!
Shocked to learn that Pato played for them. wtf

Those 3 don’t belong on that list. I’m surprised anyone would forget Sheva played for Chelsea. No one at Chelsea considers Crespo a flop.

Eto'o scored a hat-trick for your lot against us that you might remember? If he hadn't have done that I might've forgot. The other two definitely not!

You’d know better than me, I assumed all 3 were fairly underwhelming at Chelsea. Eto’os hat trick against us apart.

Why not?
Decent fee at the time, poor scoring record for his reputation, spent a fair bit of time out on loan too.

Is he one of those cult hero types?

Carlton Morris and alan Campbell in the premier league will never not be funny to me. remember them at Hamilton Academical and Motherwell, they weren't up to much then either.

Celtic have some amazing ones

Freddy Ljungberg
Teemu Puki
Juninho
Carlton Cole
Ian Wright

Obvious ones but can occasionally forget:
Roy and Robbie Keane
Paulo Di Canio
Alaidere
Van Dijk

Denis Irwin at Wolves.. He played no less than 75 games for them. Most underrated player in our history imo

Just found out today that this happened, either missed it at the time or completely blanked it from memory.

First time I have seen this thread so apologies if it is already said, but Middlesbrough must be the ultimate example of this -

Victor Valdes/Schwarzer

Branco/Christian Ziege
Gary Pallister
Jonathan Woodgate
Colin Cooper (struggled here, but he did play fullback and did play for England)

Stewart Downing/Julio Arca
Souness/Ince
Bryan Robson
Mendieta

Juninjo
Ravanelli

They also had Parlour, Barmby, Boksic, Marco Branca, Boateng, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Yakubu, Southgate, Ehiogu, Emerson, Karembeu plus many many others.

They'd have probably challenged for the Premier League if they'd had all of them in their pomp.

Most of these are news to me, and they are indeed amazing.
