Did he really play for them?

Davids at Barnet was pretty fecking weird

He was player/manager and made himself captain. Apparently he wore the number 1 shirt while playing CM and refused to attend away games which involved staying in a hotel.

Oddly enough he also got them relegated

 That's great.

Fábio Paim....a true Champ Manager legend...was at Chelsea for a short while

Could probably do a whole thread of these for Real Madrid alone:

Javier Hernandez
Fabinho
Denis Cheryshev
Nuri Sahin
Hamit Altintop
Emmanuel Adebayor
Jerzy Dudek
Royston Drenthe
Christoph Metzelder
Marcos Alonso (Also played for Bolton)
Julien Faubert
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Julio Baptista
Antonio Cassano
Juan Mata
Jonathan Woodgate
Thomas Gravesen

To be fair Alonso and Mata came up through Madrid's youth academy. I wonder how many players currently playing in La Liga and Spain's lower divisions are Madrid and Barcelona academy, graduates? I'm still surprised that Pepe Reina was a Barcelona player. Etoo, Saul and Juanfran all came from Madrid's academy as well. Although Saul never played for them and went to Atletico's academy as a kid.

Did Mata actually play for Madrid or did he go to Valencia without playing?

Was just reading an article about Mart Poom on BBC.

Completely forgot he was at Arsenal for a few years. Was a decent prem keeper for likes of Derby and was probably better than Almunia in that period who was the number one.

Also played for Portsmouth before joining Derby. Yeah he was a decent keeper

Well that’s because he only sorta kinda played for us didn’t he.
Yeah true. I just remembered that he did play for us the other day and was kind of shocked for a split second. Feels like a lifetime ago, and it wasn't even that long.

Surely this thread is crying out for a pic of Declan Rice in a Republic of Ireland kit? :wenger:

Weirdly he was also reserve keeper to Alan Knight at Portsmouth before signing for Derby.

They talked about Mart Poom on either the guardian or James Richardson pod saying he had an offer to join Man Utd as Barthez’s number 2
