Yes, same as all the engrams it could be for any class. And ive heard it can be a rare or legendary too, this was the first i bought and i lucked out not just getting one for my class, not just getting exotic, but also not getting the titan chest i already have :D

It sounds like everyone is getting a chest of some description though, so that may be the only guaranteed part

It seems like just a punt kind of thing, motes of light are only otherwise used to buy class items and icon thingies from the speaker and those arent very useful. Dont give you any light and open up new content

You get 2 or 3 ascendant shards and a couple of materials that go along with the class of the item, if you break down the hunter stuff

So it might be dissappointing but at least it can help you upgrade your armour
 
You get ascendant drops from public events too... that's where I got the few I have from. Have no use for them and wasn't even looking for them.

Why not save it for an alt? Unless it's not needed for that or you don't plan on having an alt...

Ok, lads just bought the exotic engram....and you guessed it, it was for the wrong class! feck this game, I have zero luck with it. Only legendary I have got, I had to buy with marks. I dismantled it and got 3 ascendant shards.
 
Anybody gonna be playing tonight? Fancy doing some level 20+ strikes. Every blue I get so far is worse than the ones I have already :lol:

Yeah I get that, but it's fairly easy to get AS as far as I can tell... I have 3 from public events over the last 2 nights... Exotic gear on the other hand...

Speaking from the point of view of someone who wants to eventually have 3 characters I'd prefer to keep the exotic and do the public events, but that may not apply to you...

I only seem to get 1 shard from the daily reward for first public event through the mail, then on a rare occasion I get one at the end of golding an event. But its really rare. About 9/10 times I dont get anything from them for golding the event. It might be because it tends to be the same ones or the same two? But im not sure that makes a difference. A lot of people have mentioned they dont get anything from them after the initial reward in the mail each day.

I tend to get ascendant energy from doing the highest level daily heroic, which is 24 currently as 28 would probably be too tough

You need like 6 shards for each upgrade to your legendary or exotic in the final tier and they have about 3 of those each.

As for alts, I'd love to have time and be able to dedicate things like exotics to them but I'm happy with my Titan PVE wise and its taking a lot of time and effort to get it in shape to do the new content at a reasonable time, I dont want to be doing it a month after its released because my level 4 Warlock has some pants for one day, when I can actually level it.
 
Is the RedCafe clan any use? You can't add anyone to a fire team from it, can you?

On the topic of weapons, this was the exotic fusion rifle I got the other day:

Shame it's a fusion rifle as I'm not a big fan of them - especially in the crucible, but it's brilliant for using against "bosses".
 
Oh yes my first bit of good luck. I'm leveled up the cryptarch fella and got two legendary bits of gear. Already had them, so I dismantled them and got 5 shards. Also I bought exotic sunbreakers from Xur. These things look great :D

Came across a lot more legendary stuff. I now have two fecking Rocket Launchers but at least I've got something. Are you guys getting many legendary engrams which then turn out to be a blue or even worse I got 2 Ascendant Energy from one what ever that is?
 
Whats the best way to get Relic Iron? Need loads of them to level up my legendary armour...

Just tried the PvP, safe to say I'm getting destroyed in it right now. My weapon isn't suited for that style of play at all.

Too many pricks with shotguns. I've gotten better at PvP though.

I'm the same. They mostly have shotguns/handcannons or whatever, one hit kill you then stroll off into the sunset.

How does the level difference work in PvP? Shotgun's I'm assuming were the things that were basically one hit killing me.

Think I'll wait until I have a decent rapid fire gun or a shotgun before giving it a shot. A scout rifle just wasn't working.

No worries, I'll keep grinding away and hopefully catch up with you guys eventually. Got nearly all day tomorrow to smash out a whole lot of time, so should close the gap a bit at least.

Yeah, assault rifle + shotgun seems to be the default setup of choice. Or crutch, for the cynical.

It kinda feels like the higher level I got, the more often my purple engrams revealed purple items and so on. There was definitely a time where almost every time it was giving me blues, but now they are turning into purples regularly.

Unfortunately a lot of the time its for a different class, but you cant have everything :D

Yeah I'll be up for the strike! Made it to phagoth and he only had an 1/8 of his life left but got kicked out due to bad connection :((

Yikes, unlucky. I'm about 80 rep away from being vanguard level 2 so I'll do a few patrol missions, buy a couple of legendary armour and should be well enough equipped to tackle that strike today with you.

I got to level 25 today! I was farming the cave in Old Russia all day, got lots of good stuff there, got about 7 legendaries and lots of rare ones.

Does it matter what level you play the level at as in normal, hard, impossible etc?
