Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

seems you can actually stay outside it appears. Just go on the left of the the left pillar and pull as far back as possible then sit/crouch.

Middle strategy, sword guy on the right rock while we down Crota. One of us shooting right boomers with scout rifle to get their attention and leave the sword guy alone. Two downs per sword, three R2 smashes per down. On Ogres we went into the lower right back room where the Ogre spawns, jumped up on the doorway and blasted him as soon as he spawned. Then from that room under the effect of blessing of light we got the other Ogre. Then two more swords like that and he was done.
Yeah sounds basically the same as how we did it, but a few little hints to help;

1. If the sword bearer doesn't kill any thrall when getting/got the sword then the boomers do not shoot him (unconfirmed)
2. We had 2 titans and on the right hand side 1 of our titans popped a bubble with the generate orb perk and blessing of light so the sword bearer could collect orbs and get a shield. You must still exit the platform though as Crota will kill you.
3. Our sword guy was a hunter, and on the first down instead of running off he drops the sword and melee's crota to go invisible. As soon as the shield is about a second away we all fire.
4. Same strategy for Ogres, making sure you run under the bridge rather than over it, as it gives you more room to avoid boomer fire.
5. By this point Crota is 1 rotation away from Enraging, (we purposely don't do enough damage on the first 2 sword runs if its close) we stand away from the back window slightly as thrall seem to kill you through the window, going either side of the window ledge to not get hit. Everybody fires and then Crota is enraged which brings the oversoul. We all purposely ignore the oversoul though as you can kill Crota quickly enough that it doesnt matter. Once Crota pops up again 1 more rocket and the sword bearer kills him.

Not every time we use a bubble on ledge if you don't have 2 titans, but it sure helps getting that super available. I would suggest using a hunter rather than a titan with the sword and using the drop melee technique as it saves a lot of time running back and forth off the platform.

Yeah we dont go inside, we just move to the left side of the window and tuck behind the frame so he cant shoot you.

Still no weapon :/ I did get the raid helm though which I didn't have.

On this char I've got the raid helm so hopefully I'll get a weapon this time around...
You guys trying again. Group I'm with is rather hopeless so happy to jump ship

@Damien you guys still trying it? I was supposed to leave now but it's been postponed so I've got another few attempts in me.

Had a titan with a different version of the bubble strategy. He basically agroed the boomers from a certain spot, and just stood in his bubble. Both boomers simply fired at his bubble the whole time. Far less risky than having the titan have to run up with the sword bearer it seemed.

Also if anyone has a decent group that needs someone. Send me an invite. I'm just going to be grinding exp on my warlock in the meantime

Did you manage to complete it?

Nope. Group was rather rubbish and I really should have dropped them ages ago. Had a good swordbearer at one point, but shit titan who kept dying. Then he left and we got a good titan, but our sword bearer was rubbish. Not to mention one of the other players kept dying as well. Played for like 2 hours, and don't think I died once other than wiping. Was so frustrating.

The main reason for putting it up there is that the sword bearer can collect orbs for the super, and then get a shield as he runs back to the window. If it's just a case of stopping the boomers shooting then I think as long as the sword bearer doesn't kill any thralls or get hit by them they don't shoot AFAIK.

1. We had tried that but didn't work so as I didn't have any weapons of note (i.e. the Gjallar or HoC) I was designated the job of distracting the boomers so just used VoC and it worked fine. I've got the three successful attempts saved so I'll upload them later. The sword carrier was quality, he did it on all three guardian types.
2. We had very briefly debated that but decided not to.
3. I think our sword carrier did the same, not sure.
4. Yep, we do that... apart from me naturally.
5. Yep we did that and on a regular basis we got to the enrage stage, just some funky shit happened resulting in it not downing Crota.

I will be up for another couple of attempts later on around 5pm UK.

Got my hunter to 32 as well now as well as topped out a couple of more weapons.

I'll be on for a little bit later but won't be up for that due to the amount of time I spent overnight. Shattered. Will do a few bounties then will have an early night.

afro'll probably be interested though. Not sure if he'd be on around that time though

I'll be back late though... 8ish. Dunno if I can be bothered unless it's a solid group. 6 hours is the longest I've ever raided and Destiny raid isn't exactly long and varied...

I'll check in when I'm back...

Managed to beat it again. One guy left and I got another swordbearer then we beat it in three tries. The guy who carries sword never shot any thralls and the boomers never shot at him.

Good to see everyone's getting it done tho. A caf attempt shouldn't be a problem now, only a few of us yet to complete it...

Depends, do we have a good sword bearer on the caf. That really could be the only thing holding us back, the rest is just timing and not getting killed.

By the way, when Crota moves to the right, you don't have to go back in, you can just stay on that window but move all the way the right, Crota won't get you there. Makes everything so much more easier.

Did you beat it with your group? I'm gonna take a little and then look for a fresh run for my titan

not yet, though got a good group at the moment, so hopefully soon

@Dargonk

Jesus christ, these guys take themselves seriously. Couldn't stand them. Cleared it twice without having to put a single protective bubble up, yet they go apeshit over anything that doesn't go exactly the way they want it, plus losing two men DPSing Crota due to needing two bubbles on every sword.

Only time we really used bubble were at the start to help prevent people losing health, and when Crota goes to the right and everyone is hiding on the ledge just to give a bit more protection and that's it.

Yeh that guy is bizarre. He was someones mate that had only just joined as well.

Whole thing dissolved quickly after you left. Guy had no patience. Didn't even need him as we had a great swordbearer already

The group that Damo and I ran it with was super chill. Amazing how it can be such a huge difference.

Yeh you get those groups. And generally you actually eventually finish the things with them as people are happy to work together and stick at it.

The group I completed it with was great like that as well.
