Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

People insisting on the kneel cheese for Crota despite the fact they don't know what they are doing.

So painful, so so painful.

Solo'd lamps and bridge. Got nothing but Shards, VoG RNG is carrying over!
They said that RNG is meant to be better, but it doesn't appear to be. I've managed to get two gloves, two cloaks, 2 fusion rifles and a pair of boots (all for hunter) from my runs so far (plus useless stuff like the ship/shader/icon and shards/energy). And nothing for my warlock on its one half run. So doesn't appear to be any better to me so far.

We tried the cheese but it doesn't seem to be working do you know how to do it?
Me and Tom got it to work once. He basically closed the app right when crota takes a knee. Though we couldn't replicate it a second time despite trying for ages with the same group. Not sure if it only sometimes works or if the timing has to be perfect.

Though each time the person left, crota was standing up basically straight away, so it was glitching that way. I'm guessing perfect timing is the key.

Trying to cheese Crota last night was SO frustrating!

Apologies if I excessively moaned at any of you guys. It's just that spending two hours basically trying to cheat the game, instead of actually playing it, isn't fun, imo.

I'd much rather spend six hours trying to beat it legit, have fun doing so and then get a sense of accomplishment in finally beating it. It will only get patched at some point and we'll then have to spend even more time trying to figure out how to beat him with no cheese.

If we can get everyone to 31 and we get our new version exotics fully upgraded, we should have it nailed. We just weren't doing enough damage to get the Sword Bearer and Crota's shield down quick enough, so we're really not a million miles away, imo.

I know I said it loads of times last night (Adam also said the same when he joined) but we really need to have one guy calling the shots and try to reduce chatter on comms....same as we did running VoG.

Just my 2 Strange Coins worth...

Agreed with you Brocky, we spent like four hours trying to cheese it when it clearly wasn't working for whatever reason. When Adam came on and we tried to beat it legit with him telling us to go through everything faster we were doing better. The bit where we fell down on is after downing Crota the first time, he runs over to the right instead of staying still so we can down him again. I think that might be to do with some people firing rockets which don't have tracking and miss him which results in him being scared off. Maybe have the people with ice breakers start shooting at him then the rocket people can jump in?

In that situation lure the swordbearer over to the left, but don't actually kill him. Crota will eventually move back to the center and you can get him safely again.

Saying that group me and tom did it with still needed to get one hit in on crota when he went right after the ogres in order to avoid enrage timelimit

I mean raid.

Can tomorrow, not got the time tonight your time (you're Aussie, right?)

I'm on about once you've got the sword and DPSed Crota once and about to DPS him again before the sword disappears. It's not about us being too slow or anything as we've been getting faster, it's just I think people fire rockets after the first time we've DPSed and downed him and it scares him off as they didn't hit him.

Yeh he moves off, but if you hold off killing the sword bearer for a bit. He seems to move back to the center. Then you just smash the sword bearers remaining health and attack as usual. At least that is what we were doing last night. Just need to make sure you get two sets of hits in with every sword to make up for the lost time.

That's what I'm saying, it's the second set of hits that we were struggling with doing as people were firing rocket launchers and missing which scared Crota off. We do the swordbearer bit fine, it's just getting the second set of hits in on Crota

See how fast they're taking down the Sword Bearer and then straight onto rockets at Crota, before their Hunter even gets to the rock? Way faster than us and that allows the Hunter to get three hits with the sword.

We're simply lacking DPS, or not applying it well enough. Other than that, they did nothing different to what we were doing the night before last and after Adam got on last night.

Yeah, as soon as I see the swordbearer is down I start shooting Crota with my ice breaker (my rocket launcher doesn't have tracking so don't really trust it right now). Usually is a few seconds after that before the rockets start being fired which is a bit slow. However, no matter what the difference in time is between taking down swordbearer and taking down Crota, Crota'll be down for the same amount of time. Issue really is communicating with the hunter and getting the timing right for the hunter to be hitting Crota as soon as possible.

Maybe you should ask Adam what his set up is as he seemed to be putting in a bit more damage?

We found usin machine guns/snipers on crota first worked best. Can control the speed a bit more. Sword guy then can time his attack much better. He use rockets for the quick drop the second time for the next lot of hits.

Other thing that worked great was our swordbearer was after his last hit, pressing triangle to drop the sword, melee crota to go invisible again and then picking the sword back up. Saved running away and time. Needs to be a hunter though

While that is true, the sword has it's own time limit too. If you don't get Crota down quickly enough the sword will disappear before you get any decent damage on the 2nd attack. All I use is R2 to attack Crota, but if you time it correct you can get 4 hits in which is probably why it seemed better as I usually try and get there before he is dropping to his knees. He seems to pause for a second before he drops which means you can start attacking without getting killed.

Yeah, I know that too. Was just trying to explain to Dargon that I was talking about the second set of hits rather than Crota running off before the swordbearer is downed.

Yeah. Like you said it's just purely getting the shots in fast enough. I am not quite sure what/how it is going wrong as it's simply point and shoot at Crota as soon as the swordbearer is killed, but clearly something isn't quite right. Looking at that video the majority of them are using Gjallahorn's which obviously helps, but the way they are doing it isn't realistic for everybody.

Hopefully everybody involved can watch that video just to see how quickly you need to react, and then it should make things clearer.
