Silly question, but how do I access them?

If you're asking how you get them, random quest turn in reward. You'll see a flash of yellow/gold when you turn in a quest and it'll come up with 3 options of quests on your screen. I've had the same 3 every single time

I'm never going to get an exotic weapon. Got the Invective bounty, done the five strikes without dying with ease. Problem for me is I'm so crap at PvP I can't do the next stage: K/D spread of 25 over a number of crucible matches. End up getting one shotted by randoms.
For all the exotic bounties, do you need to play the PvP. I'd never be able to complete them if that is the case
Even I managed that one and I'm awful at pvp. My progress bar went up, down, about mid way, back to the start, slightly up, back to the start, back to midway and then I just had one good game where I exploited the turrets on the snow map and got a triple kill with my titan smash and it filled the bar from that one game. Probably took 2-3 hours of matches, someone half decent will manage it in like 3-4 matches
That one doesn't seem so bad. My friend got something like he has to gain 500 points on the crucible, one kill counting as 5 points and each death as -2 or -3. Feel like that would take forever (especially if you struggle even to get a 1.0 k.d. ratio online

Just had a read, that KD speared is over as many games as it takes. It certainly seems possible.
Nope the one I did involved finding a hidden chest on mars spending one strange coin (so you need to wait for weekend for xur) and killing 200 enemies with a machine gun.
That sounds much more doable.
Quick questions, for these exotic bounties (if I ever get one). Does it state all the requirements to complete the bounty at the start, or only the first step?

Your best bet if you get one is to google their titles before choosing which one you want
Try doing this on the 'Control' matches, you have a better chance of getting numerous kills in one go in these as guardians are too busy trying to capture the zones. Throw a grenade in to the zone or use your special and you can sometimes get about 3 of them at once. The map 'Exodus Blue' is good for doing this as the teams will usually try to occupy Zone B (inside the building), once the opposition have B just target that area with grenades, specials and them some heavy fire. I only had to play around 2-3 matches to get a K/D spread of 25 doing this.
I did the Exotic Machine Gun bounty in a few hours so would recommend people take that if they want an easy one. Found part one of the bounty in a chest on Mars. Bought something from Xur for 1 Strange Coin then did a couple of strikes to rack up the 500 kills/points with bonus for head shots/streaks. I reckon I only did 180/200 kills because of head shots off weak enemies. Simplest of the bounties by far.
As it happens I've had it a few days and not even equipped it yet. I'm using The Swarm and it's unbelievable. It takes out anything the game has thrown at me so far so why change it eh!

I maxed out my weekly vanguard points for the first time ever yesterday. I never thought I would do that

I'm finally level 20. I'm still rocking blue level 14 gear mainly - how do I get better gear - because strikes don't seem to give me any?

The only way to level up now is to have blue (rare) armour and then purple (Legendary) armour
YOu need to save up vanguard marks and rank up vanguard levels to buy legendary stuff. Or join one of the factions and build up crucible marks.

My best advice would be to start collecting Vanguard & Crucible marks, whilst also completing Bounties along the way to reach Level 2 in each category if you haven't already. This then unlocks access to the Vanguard / Crucible items and you'll be able to purchase Legendary (Purple) gear. If you just play the game normally it could take a long time before you get even one Legendary item, especially since the loot cave as gone!
Also, target the Gloves, Body Armour & the Boots from the Vanguard / Crucible stores, not only are they cheaper to get, but if you collect 13 Strange Coins from now till Friday you'll be able to buy an Exotic Helmet from Xur for 13 coins.
First thing I did was join a faction, quicker route to gear IMO... as all rep goes to the faction rather than being split between various things. By the time I hit level 2 I had decent gear and never looked back...
yeah im 25 and still using lvl14 blue boots, its ridiculous. Vanguard rep seems to take an absolute eternity to grind.
With the benefit of hindsight I would recommend anyone newly hitting 20 that they buy a rep item from one of the factions (Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, Future War Cult etc) in the Tower. It converts all the Vanguard/Crucible rep into that factions rep - meaning if you are doing both pvp and pve you can level the faction twice as fast as you would level Vanguard or Crucible by themselves.
Ive left it too late now as my vanguard rep is sort of getting near lvl2 so I dont want to change. Grrrr.

You can only use Crucible marks at the factions, can't you? That would mean only 1 item per week due to caps. If you have both Vanguard & Crucible you could buy two items per week.
Yea that's a fair point, 100 marks a week. I think I had a shit load though :/

A mixture of the two would make sense tbh, start off unlocking a Faction by doing both Bounties / Vanguard Strikes / Crucible matches then focus solely on unlocking the Vanguard after the faction is complete.

Is it me or is vanguard rep a lot slower to unlock. Am I supposed to be wearing a specific cloak or something?
I hate playing Crucible, I'm just crap at it, although I did a few bounties. I have done so many bounties but I have never gotten one exotic, just me luck. Didn't even know there was such thing.

It felt like it took me a long time to increase the Vanguard rep too, just do as many of the Bounties you can daily, then move on to Vanguard Strikes, quickest way to increase the rep.
I bought a Warlock Bond ready to join New Monarchy but then spotted the Shadow Price AR I'm After needs Vanguard 3. Decided to go for that first, hoping to get it this week.

Which one you got? I've got a Legendary in almost every weapon now except AR which is what I do all my damage with. I'm currently sporting a Galahad-E at about 240 attack. It's good all round with a larger clip than some other AR's. Still want something better though.
The Vanquisher the guy uses in that raid video looks brilliant but i'm closer to Vanguard 3 now so may as well power through and then go New Monarchy! Least it gives me plenty of reasons to keep playing!

Was doing a Strike yesterday with a guy and at the end it said "xxx found Universal Remote", turns out it was an Exotic Shotgun. Did he have to earn that through a bounty or was it just a random reward? I'm guessing because it told him in game and he didn't have to go to the bounty guy in the tower it was a reward? Jammy!
Sounds like a reward to me, but can't be certain; I was playing a crucible match yesterday & literally 20 seconds into it someone received a message like the one you seen unlocking a Exotic weapon - That early on in a crucible match sounds like a Bounty reward.
On the AR topic, I got a Grim Citizen III from a engram (Jammy) and it's brilliant, you can buy them from the crucible quartermaster too.

Yeah that early on would make me think Bounty. As this was at the end when the Vanguard Rep etc flashes up and it said it at the bottom of the screen and with it showing up in the rewards I'm guessing he just got lucky!

Yeah! I got speaking to a guy a few days ago about Destiny and he is level 29. He was telling me about a Shotgun with a silly range on it and that he slides about (yeah, one of those guys) and can take people out one shot from crazy distances. I'm sure he called it a remote or something, so I'm guessing it's this weapon? Could be wrong though.
I didn't even think you could get different mode legendarys with different perks like you do with other guns, that makes things very interesting! I want one!

Thank you. How do I collect vanguard marks - do the normal strikes on the planets count - or is it just the things that are on the side of the main map screen?

Yeah as afro did, Faction first then Vanguard is probably the best way. Vanguard marks are collected by doing Bounties, Vanguard Strikes (the ones of the side of the map) or you can do Patrol Missions on each planet. Just remember to take your faction Cloak/Badge/Bond off beforehand.
Yeah u can find exotics at any Time. I got my AR called the Monte Carlo just farming on earth. Had no bounty or achievement, just got it off the floor after killing an enemy.
