Declan Rice

Man, he is not the answer. Just another Maguire waiting if we end up paying 80m.

Excellent today, but I feel bad for him. He has to be everything in this West Ham team. I want to see him here where he can focus more on his own job instead of having to do others' as well.

He is very good and if you want a dedicated DM he is comfortably the best domestic option, strong, good touch, uses the ball quickly, if simply, excellent positioning, good aerial screen and leadership capabilities.

Not a glamour signing or the type to get the fans excited but he would be a very solid and valuable player, with probably 8-10 years use out of him.

He was the single biggest reason we didn't enjoy an easy win today. An absolute rock in front of his back four and very tidy on the ball. He's quality.

People are comparing him to mctominay and Fred and he is miles better than both of them and having him at 6 allows us to have 2 attacking 8s.

Positionally he is brilliant and just stops things before they start much like carrick.

he is also a leader which we lack.

think he has been brilliant in the games I have seen him this season.

He was their best player. I don't know what else you can expect from him. We're better than them and controlled the game. There isn't much one player can do to change that. He's a brilliant player, but we won't get him for a fair fee. Whoever finally gets him will have a brilliant player on their hands.

Best DM in the premier league bar none , maybe the world. Been following him since 2 years and made me a fan. Positionally so correct and personality wise so commanding like Vandijk of DM’s. Elite. A bargain at 70-80 again like VVD maybe worth even at 100. A game changer.

Getting into physical battles with McTominay was cherry on top of his game for me.

He can be one persistent c*nt on the pitch but also calm in key moments. Won't be surprised if we're waiting for him instead going after Zakaria or Haidara. That price though... Moyesy will definitely take his revenge that way.

He's a great player, he would be the perfect compliment with Pogba and Bruno. The thing is we shouldn't bring Pogba back next season.

His price is going to be ridiculous but he looks a quality player and gets better and better. So commanding in midfield. Very comfortable driving forward with it too.

If he doesn’t come to us, he’ll defo go to one of the big 6 soon.

I thought he was their best player. I feel so frustrated whenever he played against us. He just kept winning so many ball from our players. And also he commands the midfield from what I saw. Love it when player talks and tells his team mate what to do. Communication is important in football especially for defenders and midfields.

West Ham had the best player on the pitch today in Rice, closely followed by Bowen. The rest of them were pretty poor though which is why we nicked it in the end.

He has just turned 23, has his best years in front of him and I will be staggered if he isn't England captain by the time he is 25. Yes, £100m or whatever it is, is a huge amount of money but it is an investment that will pay dividends for the next 10 years.

I think he is a quality player. Put Tielemans/Barella and Bruno in front of him, in front of him in a 433 and I feel we would instantly have one of the best midfields in the league.
Yeah, I think he’s very good but he’s not the solution alone. I don’t know if we can afford him + another though

He was brilliant today, by far West Ham's best player. Anyone that can shield the defence and then break away with the ball at pace is worth their weight in gold.

Break the bank for him, I'm sold.

Very hard to judge Rice when West Ham's gameplan seems to be sit back and counter. In a Man Utd team, most of the time, the #6 has to be much more proactive. A lot of the time our back four is on the halfway line or further. United controlled the areas of the pitch in which the game was played, to such an extent its hard to know how Rice would do if he was called on to be more expansive. Certainly he miscued a couple of cross field passes. That makes you wonder how he'd do in our team, since Rangnick is clearly demanding McTominay makes the switches. For £100m you need to be sure about what you're getting and, for me, its not clear he can play the Carrick role.
Carrick? He doesn’t have to be carrick in the same way carrick wasn’t keane and Keane wasn’t Robson etc

Yeah, I think he’s very good but he’s not the solution alone. I don’t know if we can afford him + another though

It probably has to be a two-step build. Go with Rice in the summer, play two of Bruno/McT/Fred ahead of him for next season, not ideal but won't be horrible either. The summer after, try our best to get one of Barella, Tielemens or Bellingham in to complete the setup.

He will be fine for us. He is good enough on the ball. But we need someone between him and Bruno that can play a bit, and helps out defensively at the same time.

WH will not let him go for under £100 million. We can’t afford another expensive flop. We have to be smarter in the transfer market.

At times it was like they were a one man team, and he was the team.

Yes there is probably better value options, but he will go on to be a top player at a top team, and its been obvious for years.

Disciplined, Commanding, Leader, Organiser, Technically sound, Positionally great, Attitude Brilliant, Oozes Confidence and takes responsibility all the time. Also never gives the ball away and score a lot of goals and assists for the position he plays in and shields the defence like fecking Leonidas.

Name me a better DM.

And yet some are saying he’s not very good. Him and a striker who can play with his back to goal and we’d be a far far better team.
I feel like there is a certain snobbishness when it comes to players like Rice. If his name was Jose Ricinho the same posters here would be gushing over him.

Monster display tonight. Cut out so many attacks just as you sensed there might be some danger. Think he also improved his distribution under pressure quite a bit .. I don't recall him being this good on the ball in the big games last year. He was really good passing wise against Chelsea too if I recall correctly.

I wonder if he's technical enough for someone like Ten Hag. I suspect he might want someone like Busquets / Rodri rather than Rice. If we opt for another year of Rangnick he'll definitely be good enough for us.
