He wants to win, not 'challenge'.

Arsenal haven't won a league title in 20 years and last won a European trophy about 30 years ago, and have never won a European Cup/CL.

Arsenal finished 5th-8th six years out of the last seven.

Who really believes they'll repeat the pre-World Cup run? As soon as the season turned to normal, so did Arsenal.
 
I rate Rice more now than before this season but 90m for him is completely absurd.
 
I know it sounds reactionary after last night but the massive value difference between him and Amrabat is completely unjustified on football reasons alone. Rice improves us and I won't turn my nose up if it happens but this 'should' be a £50m transfer tops.
 
Please please please after all the sale fiasco and other issues if anyone thinks Rice would be a success for us is listening to the same media hype surrounding our other disaster. Rice is massively over rated and will be a midfield version of Maguire. To suggest anything else is once again throwing yourself down the rabbit hole. As for Kane its like the thought of oil money …..move on its not happening. We will make a bid for Kane so club can say "We tried, not our fault"

40 Million transfer fee for Maguire seems a stretch without subsidising his salary by millions.

So does every other player out there. Let’s not pretend Rice is some hyper successful player or anything. He plies his trade for WH and has won the smallest European trophy around. Arsenal would an enormous step up for him and he’d have to prove himself to that club / their fans.
 
I find it peculiar that he turned in the same performance vs us just a few weeks ago as last night but we had people coming up here saying he ‘dominated’ our midfield.

Utterly pointless footballer when you ask him to move 15 yards away from the edge of the box. Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern can afford him and his skillset because they have players who can do stuffs with the ball, if we get him we will be back bemoaning the state of our midfield in 2 months time, only £80/100m poorer.
 
David Sullivan on Talksport just said they've promised he can go. Felt very much like a if you pay the money we will let him go. I reckon he's off for 80m-ish this summer.

I’d offer £60 million plus McTominay which could be seen as a £90+ million deal and would give West Ham a midfield replacement as well as money to invest in other areas, I could see Moyes being ok with that.
 
If we can afford the transfer fee along with all the other priorities then I think we need to be in for him.

Surely if Mount comes a part of Rice would want to team up with one of his best mates given the opportunity and we are as well positioned if not better positioned than Arsenal to win trophies next season.

Casemiro, Rice, Mount, Bruno and Eriksen would give us options and flexibility we haven't had in our midfield for years and years.
 
Rice is never going to United.. We shouldnt waste any time on him..

There was literally an interview of being asked about United and he laughed at the guy, and said 'yeah thats not happening'... clearly has no love lost for the club at all

I don’t think he will. Rice is been sold by Westham as he is in last 2 years of contract. As next year with 1 year left, his value will be diminished. 90m vs 45m.

Kane will be sold if the money(>80m) is deemed worthy by Spurs board compared to the risk of not getting into CL next season(Top 5) and also the commercial deals for spurs. If not they will wait to allow him leave on a free next summer as the stake is high.

You're assuming that McT wants to go to West Ham, he might not. Especially if Newcastle are interested. They can offer him more money and CL football.
 
I think he’d be a top signing for us but just not at the money quoted, could probably copy and paste that in most of the transfer threads though all players are so expensive at the moment.
 
If Arsenal want him, he will move to them. They have money of CL made a good season and are quite positive, then he stays in London which is even easier. I am not an expert but think that they should'nt have many business to do so it can be done.

If Chelsea want him, he will run to them. They have tons of money, spend like no one, he's from there so if they call him he'll go there.

If Bayern want him, they will lover the fee to 80M + another player (Gravenbech, Tel or anyone else)

If United want him, it will last until August, West Ham will ask 150M and we will end up with Ndidi for 45M instead.
 
It's an odd one, on the one hand, I want him as he is a good center midfielder who has the capacity to grow into a better player. On the other hand, £80m+ seems like massive money and he also seems like an odd character, I don't quite get his personality, feels every so slightly manufactured.
 
Can only see him going to Chelsea tbh. Arsenal will get caicedo, United have casemiro, city have Rodri, Liverpool i don't think would pay up but I guess they would be an option if they have enough to spend. Don't think he leaves the Prem to go to Bayern.

I’d be happy with McTominay going to Newcastle too as that’d likely be a better deal for us seeing as it’d be a straight cash deal for an academy player which means the full fee and 100% profit on the balance sheet thus being massive for us in regards to FFP, someone on one of the other threads explained FFP in regards to spending and selling academy players the other day but with amortised fees I think £40 million or above for McTominay would allow £100 million for Rice.
 
strange one, because he offers exactly what we need, defensive cover from midfield. Casemiro cannot track runners from mid, Rice is very good at that part. The problem is his price. It's a bit like the Mount deal, 50 million or so, no problem but once it starts going higher than that, you worry you are throwing all your eggs in one basket. Rice is an excellent player, but if comes to Utd, he needs to add more to his game. West Ham are charging for the finished article which he isn't yet. If central mid was the only position we needed to fill, you might be inclined to overpay for Rice, but we've quite a few upgrades we need, depends on what are transfer budget is I guess.

Don't think Rice is going to Chelsea. There's something happened behind the scenes there that's put off Rice and made Mount want to leave.

I think switching your scenario is more likely, Rice to Arsenal and Caceido to Chelsea.

You think Arsenal will pay 100m+ for him? West Ham are still asking for batshit crazy numbers, while Caicedo was your preferred target just a few months ago. Also think he suits Arsenal more (and has a higher ceiling). Chelsea are the only ones who I could see spending that much, but yeah it's fair with the mount factor.

Edit: also missed the news that Arsenal were prepping a 90m offer. Guess you're right. Caicedo - Enzo midfield for Chelsea will be a brilliant pairing TBF
 
He is obviously better than McFred, really depends on how much we can spend this summer.

If Qatar in and we have 300m+sellings, he will be a good partner with Cas in big games, or a replacement if Cas is not available or need a rest.

The CDM is so vital I don't think our youngster is ready for it.
 
Chelsea is his long held preference, according to people who know both the player and family.

The gentleman's agreement WHU have with the player was reached when Chelsea were assumed to be a CL team.

Chelsea's implosion has thrown a spanner in the works.

WHU are in advanced talks for the same player Dortmund are trying to sign to replace Bellingham.
