Deadline Day

Like others have said I'm really happy we are not involved in the circus that is transfer deadline day. All players signed weeks ago and we are no fear of losing anyone important like when we thought David DeGea could be going last year.

Agreed, it really is unbelievable how much a new manager can change.

Looks like Hull boss Mike Phelan is raiding his old club to bolster his ranks at the KCOM Stadium.

After making former Manchester United striker Will Keane one of his three signings yesterday, midfielder James Weir is set to be his first today.

And it looks like the 21-year-old will follow Keane’s lead in leaving Old Trafford on a permanent basis.

Deadline day sucks. Players having to break off from international duty to undergo medicals and sign contracts. I know different leagues start at different times but still. Three games in and players still coming and going from the squads, weeks before CL and EL games too. Crazy!

They should close it at the end of July

On the contrary, it sums up the determination of some posters to weigh in with an attack regardless of what I post. And if they have to scratch around pedantically to do it, they will.

As I've said, where Sissoko would be deployed is sometimes a position that's called a winger, or if not a right-sided attacking player.

Either way it's not a CM position. And thus, since the original reference was clearly to Pogba, Sissoko wouldn't be competing with Dembele for a CM slot.

Wait, what? You nitpicked a perfectly reasonable post here, declaring Sissoko as no competition for the midfield, just to then describe intepretations or styles which a lot of people would generally describe as part of the offensive midfield. The most basic breakdown of midfield roles is into defensive, central and offensive after all. They are of course multiple archetypes of each of the basic roles/positions.

In general this move reminds me of the mindboggling rumour about Julian Draxler being tied to PSG for 75 Mil. €. How much one or two good games at a big International tournament can do. Have people really forgotten how inconsistent Sissoko has been for years? Last season the guy has constantly swung between decent and walking disaster, sometimes even inside single games. 30 Mil. pounds for that, holy hell...

Sky's hyping of this Wilshere deal is a bit much isn't it? It's only a loan ffs.

The domestic window should shut after the league starts. Let players come and go to foreign leagues until deadline day.

Just seen the Cuadrado deal, a three year loan wtf?!

I remember people on here being gutted we missed out on him.

Ive no interest in attacking you, just pointing out that your deliberate obtuseness is why you are always dragged into ridiculous & tedious arguments.

You said he wont be playing in midfield and then went into all sorts of linguistic contortions to describe his position without using the "m" word.

Slimani joins Leicester for 30 million € plus 5 in objectives. Been confirmed by us in a Cmvm stock exchange communication. Goodbye Slimani, you will be missed (specially his goals against Porto and Benfica). Best of luck in the Premier League.

I'm not talking about the deal itself, I'm referring to the SSN reporting of the deal - even by their standards they're going overboard.
Don't they always pick one deal to go ape over on deadline day. They have two today with this and Luiz. One is a good deal, but as you say, just a loan and Luiz which is just baffling.

I had to laugh when they said that the Luiz one could be the biggest deal of the transfer window.

I find it to be an odd transfer for Leicester when they have Vardy, Okazaki and Ulloa. They need a new RB IMO.

Have to admit, for price and the difference he'll make, Kante is my signing of the summer

Well the James Weir deal has one of those deals, where our fans complain in 2/3 years why another club is spending crazy money to buy a player United left for very little, written all over it.

No it doesn't. Weir isn't good enough.

He'll be at Doncaster or some shite in a couple of years, he's rubbish.

Look, the post I originally replied to was referencing Pogba, who plays in central midfield, where Dembele and /or Alli plays. If Sissoko was at Spurs he would not be competing for where either of Dembele or Alli play. A winger or right-sided attacker is not CM.

As for rest, I don't want Sissoko and agree with what you've said.

The deliberate obtuseness in the attacking posts come from the fact that the post I originally replied to was clearly referencing Pogba, who plays in central midfield. Thus I said that Sissoko wouldn't be competing for a midfield slot, since Dembele or Alli both play in central midfield.

Then in comes all this deliberate obtuseness, demanding to know where Sissoko plays, when such posters know - or should know if they bothered to read back through the thread before weighing in - that it was about Pogba/Dembele/Alli. And then further deliberate obtuseness comes because when most people speak of midfielders, they usually mean CMs or central AMs (and not wingers or right-sided attackers) - e.g. as in a midfield three playing behind a front three.

You're right it is tedious and it is ridiculous - but these are the chosen lengths that some posters go to attack almost anything I post.
