De Gea's future | Jose not confident but not worried about deal

Think he will leave at the end of his contract, And to be honest I can't blame him. The question is where would he go?

Well we still have an option to extend his contract for another year which I believe we will . So if he doesn't sign a new contract this season then maybe we offer De Gea to Real for a straight swap with Courtios . Considering Perez is a big De Gea fan and he is Spanish maybe Perez agrees .

A guy who couldn't stay in London is going to want to come to Manchester?

Please no.

If he leaves I'll want Oblak.

Would Oblak want to leave Atletico Madrid and join us ? Would Woodward want to offer De Gea like wages to a keeper who will probably cost him a 100 million euros in transfer fees . Considering all this I really hope Woodward convinces De Gea to sign a new contract ASAP .

Why wouldn't he ?

Why wouldn't he ?

Well he is already playing in a very good team and living in a nice city probably with a good salary . Add to that our team is in shambles right now and our main GK might leave us for footballing reasons which wouldn't be a great selling if we are offering him to be a part of an ambitious footballing plan . I am sure both Chelsea and PSG must have tried for him before signing other goalkeepers and offered great salaries and a nice city to live in . So apart from offering crazy wages we don't really have any other card up our sleeve . Hence I wondered earlier if Woodward will offer him De Gea like salary apart from the huge transfer fees .

I agree that Atletico are a better team than us currently, but I think Oblak will get more fame, money and coverage here so won't be sure to say he'll refuse a move.

Anyway hopefully De Gea and saves us this headache.

United could probably double what he’s on at ATM

Atletico is a step up considering how much of a shambles we are right now,but will he really win big trophies there? If he leaves United,he will want to go to a mega club assured of winning trophies and challenging for the league.Juventus are clearly going to be the frontrunners if he decides to leave United...
They're better than us right now for sure. I think Juventus and Atleti are his only options considering every other big team has a good gk already. He'll probably leave next season for really cheap but he deserves to win, he's a top class player.

I'm pretty sure there is a large release clause of over £100m involved.

Very worrying that if you look at Juve the only weak spot in their team is the goalkeeper.

I'm assuming the situation will be quite simple. We'll do our best to get him to sign this season. If he doesn't we'll trigger the extension and then seek to sell him for as much as we can in the summer.

He should go to be fair. Can’t blame him for being ambitious and wanting to win the biggest trophies on the biggest stages.

I don't think he'll be that big of a loss tbh.
Madrid upgraded, Chelsea downgraded yet it doesn't seem to make an ounce of difference to how they perform.
Barca have the best keeper on the planet yet concede goal after goal. He's twice as good as Valdes was yet Valdes wasn't asked to bail them out as much and Barca still dominated European football.
If David leaves, he will have left lasting memories but its becoming clear to me that United was the perfect club to build his reputation upon.
Join Juve etc in little watched leagues and the Dave saves era is over.

It's ridiculous that I'm not looking forward to next season from now.

It's Romero and Jardim next season folks.

Woodward and the Glazers are to blame. But the fans should also take responsibility for not hounding Woodward out years ago.

Yet another position that will need addressing. We're a mess.

Yeah i've made peace with him leaving to be honest, and if it puts more accountability on our defenders & defensive midfielders, then i'm all for it.
He deserves to be winning leagues & CL's.

I'm all for giving him an improved contract but if he wants to leave, it's no big loss. Get one of those modern ball playing GKs and improve our defense.

Jose probably has his eye on Petr Cech, nothing to be concerned about.

And no - I am not joking in the slightest.

You are probably the team most reliant on your keeper among any of the "top" teams around. The amount of saves he has to make compared to rival keepers is ridiculously high.

Swapping mignolet/Karius for Alisson sure as hell made a difference for Liverpool

For anyone defending Jose and accepting our mediocrity, this is what you have to look forward to from now on. Enjoy it
It's the other way round.

Those who think a new coach will make a huge difference is going to get the shock of its life when they find out players like De Gea don't really have faith in the club anymore to give the coach the support needed.

Basically,I imagine the likes of Pogba and Martial would follow suit if he's still in charge next season

Mourinho leaving will escalate De Gea's departure.
Every thread now

Yep, but that would be because he won't want to wait any longer. The 3 idiots we hired have all failed to build a good squad.

If I was a player in age bracket 27-30, given a choice between say, ourselves in current shape under Guardiola (hypothetically) and PSG under Tuchel (an inferior coach), I'd choose PSG since they have a more settled team and instant chance of winning things before retiring or declining.

However, a younger player would choose us. Hence, more chance of Martial or Pogba staying if we sack Jose.

Yeah there's more chance of Martial and Pogba staying.

But people underestimate the Mendes factor aswell.

It's Romero between the sticks next season because we won't replace him I don't think.

I think Martial is going to stay anyway. There's no other top club that will guarantee him a starting spot and he'll welcome a new manager for example.

But for Pogba, as I said previously, can't see him staying one more season if we end in Europe League whatever the hell happen with the manager. He'll be basically wasting his time and Raiola will be aware of this. Raiola will be the one pushing for the move and if Barca offer a ridiculous offer we'll have to accept as we can't force him to stay against his will.

Future looks absolutely bright. Valencia and Young extending and De Gea and Pogba leaving. Next season gonna be great.

Mendes doesn't manage Pogba or Martial. If you mean De Gea, as I said, he would leave to win something ASAP even if we hired the best coach in the world (not Mourinho). Because we don't have a settled team and he's getting on in age to wait for another season.

Fair points. That would be on Ed of course. If we sacked Mourinho now and tried something new, we might just scrape 4th. But he will wait till it's too late. And the transfer strategy will be as bad as ever.

Both Mourinho and Ed need to feck off. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Ed, so no point discussing it.

Prediction for next season:
DOF: Woodward
Coach: Jardim

Romero
Sidibe Bailly Lindelof Shaw
Bakayoko Pereira Fred
Keita Balde Martial Gelson Martins

For anyone defending Jose and accepting our mediocrity, this is what you have to look forward to from now on. Enjoy it
Yes, we'll not only lose our best players (I'm not sure Martial and Pogba will remain at this club), but we're also losing the next generation of fans too. No one will blame De Gea if he decides to leave; he deserves better, not this shamble.
Mourinho leaving will escalate De Gea's departure.
You really love the guy, isn't it? I'm struggling to understand how you can support a club with history of promoting attacking football and youth players and be a die hard Mourinho fan. What did he do to deserve such level of loyalty from you? Can you give me some argument so that I can change my mind on him too because I find it bizarre that he still have some die hard supporters among our fan base.

None of this makes sense.

Low block periods yes but we've played a slightly higher line this season and where is his highlight reel? All these goals we are conceding and when has he bailed us out?
I'm a fan of David but we were the perfect club for the best shot stopper in the world to showcase his skills. I just don't think he shines as brightly when he has less to do and is forced to be an all round keeper.
You can stay on your line v Juve and allow Ronaldo to volley home from 7 yards out from a long ball from the halfway line because Utd aren't expected to do well. It'll always be Smallings fault etc.
Do that in a CL semi when you're favourites to go through and that goal would be viewed a lot differently.
Improve our CBs, which is top priority if he stays or not, and I don't think he's a big miss.

Edit Im not saying replace him with a clown like Karius.

Woodward as DoF has never made sense. They just gave Jose an extension so, even if we do finish out of the CL places, I think he'll be here next season. Unless he quits.

Even if you take Jose out of the equation
1 - why would Woodward take a lessor position
2 - why would the club accept it, given he has no experience in said role.

Then we'd have to find a new exec. vp chairman of the club (or whatever his title is)
All while hiring Jardim :wenger:

De Gea not keen on re-signing yet Young and the likes are.

Midtable obscurity here we come.

Sums us up as a club lately.
