During the 18/19 season, he made 25 starts for Villa and the only injury issue that I could find on him during his spells there was a broken metatarsal which could happen to anyone.
And to say he wasn’t pushing very hard is very dismissive. He came back into the side after we just dropped £80 million on Maguire and was up against Lindelof, Bailey and Jones to get ahead of them, yet made 7 appearances up to his injury. Not incredible numbers by any means but what else was he meant to do, every time he came into the side he seemed to take his chances and looked pretty solid in the team from what I can remember.
Just to be clear, and as I said in my original post, I’m not saying we shouldn’t sign Upamecano as it would stunt Tuanzebe’s progress, I’m asking if it’s worth dropping the numbers on him when I think we’ve got a player in Tuanzebe who looks like he could grow into a very good player. As
