Starts tonight against Sweden.
Strangely in a back 3 for France.

Booked after 2 minutes
Didn't look the most comfortable yesterday. This is the kind of performance I've seen from him, other than the one against Atleti, where he was immense.
I wouldn’t get hopes up about this one.
A lot of strong reports from Germany saying he’s already nailed on to see out this season and then move to Bayern next summer. There’s no thought of him going anywhere else. It’s Bayern doing what Bayern do in Bundesliga.
Doubt it. Upamecano is a much more unproven talent than Sancho, who I feel one of the few truly elite ones around.I feel that this is the transfer we will regret more (than the sancho one) if we don’t seal it this summer...At only 21 years of age and with our current state of cbs this makes sense on so many levels.
Nerves is normal when you make a debut for a country you love. He finished the game enormously though and even sent Kylian clear with a sumptuous ball. After Kimpembe he was the best defender on the pitch between the two teams.Didn't look the most comfortable yesterday. How did you come to that conclusion?Doubt it. Upamecano is a much more unproven talent than Sancho, who I feel one of the few truly elite ones around.
Facts? Sancho is breaking records in Germany as far as young players go. His productivity is comparable to top top attackers. He's being valued at over a hundred million..

Upamecano looks a promising CB but I'd consider Sancho far more bankable of the two. Hence if there's one I'd be happy for the club to break the bank for, it's him.
He’d of left for Dortmund under mou and we be buying him for 200mil this season if that happenedWe could have had him for almost nothing 4-5 years ago under Van Gaal. He said we didn't keep our promises we made so he didn't come.
People on this forum should stop refering to Mkhitaryan. No not facts.
His productivity has been good for Dortmund indeed but they are players who can rack up stats while being just above averag, Mhiki comes to mind here. When ever I see Sancho up against great opponents in the CL he appears to be one of those players. While Upamecano has been standout against great sides in the CL. There is an element of risk to both transfers and neither at this point are worth more than 50-60mil.
This guy is another case of the Caf wanting what they don't have despite not knowing exactly what they're trying to get into. Dude has a lot of mistakes in him, shows raw elements and clearly quite not there as a bonafida top player yet all you hear in this thread are people clamoring for him to get bought at all cost because he'll apparently instantly improve our defense.
Some people on the Caf need to watch more than highlights of good games and amv youtube compilations of players we are linked with. This guy at his current level will come here, make a few mistakes in his first few games and get absolutely hounded by the media which would easily lead to loss of confidence. He's better off improving at a place like Leipzig then move here where pressure is massive and players twice as good as he is currently have failed upon coming here.

While I agree with the sentiment of Mkhitaryan not being a good comparison, you are going way overboard. Mkhitaryan had one poor season, one decent and one very good season for Dortmund. In that very good season he had the highest assists in the league and was voted the Bundesliga's Players' Player of the Season.People on this forum should stop refering to Mkhitaryan.
Mkhitaryan was terrible for Dortmund for three seasons, and the prime reason for Dortmund getting eliminated by Real in 2014, after that masterclass from Marco Reus.
I think Dortmund couldn't believe their eyes when United came with that offer, that's why they sold him despite the board promising Tuchel that no more players would leave. But he finally had one okay season where he did some stat padding in Europa League, and United came with 40M. Still wasn't good in Bundesliga and probably one of the most mentally fragile players ever.
Not at all similar to Sancho. It's real lazy to use that as main comparison.
I would agree if you said top 5 promising CBs in the world. There are important pieces missing and probably /maybe/ hopefully they will come with experience and further development. He had some very good matches in the CL, especially against Atletico, but also had poor moments and was imo poor against PSG where some of his weaknesses were exposed. This is typical for a promising CB of his age. Play very well but make some crucial mistakes. This is fine for a promising CB during his development, but it is not world class.I generally disagree with this. He's in my top 5 of CBs worldwide right now. He was incredible in the CL this season and was damn good the 15 or so matches I caught of his in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski, Havertz and Haaland aren't exactly shite, and he's had to mark those fellas. His quickness in the challenge is particularly special. Physically, he's much more imposing than Lindelof. He would improve us instantly.
I agree on the media glare being so bright at Man Utd. I really don't think he cares much as Leipzig is generally reviled across Germany and it hasn't seemed to bother him. I will say that I'm a bit worried with his injury history.
He would be an excellent addition. However, unlike Chelsea, we can't seem to chew gum and walk simultaneously on the transfer front, so I highly doubt we'll get him this window. If we are in for him, the fact we let his release clause expire before expressing interest was, well, inexcusable. Maybe inept is a better word? The more I watch Woody in action, the more I think the reason he favors slip-ons is because he can't tie his shoes...

Chiellini is not on that level anymore but I agree with your premise for sure. Though I would say he is not on Kimpembe's level as yet either as Kimpembe has gone up in ability this year.Is he VVD, Chiellini, Ramos, Koulibaly level? Not yet. Certainly has the talent to reach those levels. I’m struggling to find better CBs. Maybe Gimenez of Atleti? He's already better than Sonyuncu and Maguire. Alaba is outstanding, but Hummels was disappointing this year. If he's not top 5, he's top 10 in my opinion.
He is not a top 5 defender
So typical of the Caf. They see a player for the first time in a CL game, we get linked to him and this place start overrating him to no end with people pretending to have in depth knowledge about the player when in reality they've just started watching his youtube amv compilations after we got link to said player.
How could anyone watching him play claim he is a top 5 defender when he has so much raw elements and mistakes in him. Sure mistakes happen to every players but we still have the issue with his rawness. He got schooled against PSG, was mediocre to average in the latest international games with France. Putting this kid as top 5 defender currently is ridiculous but I wouldn't expect anything less from the Caf.
Same here. I watched both France games and he looked like someone with lot of potential but still not there yet.Cracking header but not the most accomplished defensive display
Imo opinion he is one of the 3-4 most promising young CBs and has all the potential to become top 5 in the world in the coming 3-4 years but he still has a long way to walk. He has, as I wrote, pieces missing. He has not the best awareness of what’s going on behind him, he sometimes switch off and he is awkward positioned to defend headers, to give a few examples. Then he already now has some outstanding skills. I haven’t seen many defenders, if any, who are better at driving up the ball and he is very skilled with the ball under pressure. Is he VVD, Chiellini, Ramos, Koulibaly level? Not yet. Certainly has the talent to reach those levels. I’m struggling to find better CBs. Maybe Gimenez of Atleti? He's already better than Sonyuncu and Maguire. It was dead in the water, to use muppet parlance.
But plot twist, the body of the water was the fountain of life.
We're never going to offload Jones and fecking Rojo. Unbelievable that we gave Jones a new contract.
