Day 9 | Georgia vs Czechia | Turkey vs Portugal | Belgium vs Romania

Seems like the Fox commentators suddenly decided Turkey's name can no longer be pronounced "Turkey" and instead has to be pronounced the way they do it in the Turkish language. Quite pretentious!

Turkey have actually officially changed their name to Turkiye and asked to be called that.

Why are Portugal still playing a 41 year old CB instead of a quality 20 year old on the bench?

The amount of Turkish supporters in Dortmund is absolutely crazy. It took me 1h30m drive from my workplace (usual 10min drive around 3pm) to get home, and I’m not even close to BvB stadium

Huge Turkish diaspora in Germany though?

I don't think tactics really make that much difference in international football tbh. The big thing is choosing the right players. If the manager can do that they don't need to be a tactical genius to win.

Well sort of, none of them actually do choose the right players though.

I'm not talking about tactics more talking about system and having a team that's at least decently balanced and well drilled. You can tell Germany have that.

As opposed to just trying to throw the best 11 players on the pitch and hope it works.

Although Southgate's tactics actually hurt rather than help. Even ETH just mentioned that Southgate goes too conservative and sits deep after scoring a goal.

Stop asking the same Pepe question over and over again. He still starts because he is always one of the best portuguese players in the tournaments. He was very good against the Czech so he deserves to start. At 41, he's still better and gives more guarantees than Silva or Inacio. It will probably be his last tournament.

Agreed, people really underrate him. He's still one of the best CBs in world football and was absolutely brilliant against Arsenal in the CL.

True I'd rather see Pepe than CR7 + Bruno together up front.

Christ why is Bernardo such a shite player for us. Terrible.

It's the Cristiano black hole tactic.

At least we have more men in the box before the cross. First game it was Ronaldo almost always alone there.

We do need to diversify the target man for the crosses, can't always cross to him. Cross to someone else to shoot or cross to the farther post to assist Cristiano in the middle.

I don't rate Martinez but anyone could see that. Even the Spanish fraud saw it.

To be fair, every City player apart from Rodri has been space jammed at this tournament.

Seems true for every City player. Maybe they don't realize their national team can't play like City and they have to adjust their game.

Cristiano falling over was hilarious. Just fell like a sack of shit
