Day 9: Cameroon vs Serbia | South Korea vs Ghana | Brazil vs Switzerland | Portugal vs Uruguay

Uruguay in a tough position now. Have to beat Ghana who would be relishing knocking them out.

Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva incredible

Harsh penalty. Accidental, only reason I'd give it is Bruno was free on goal had it not collided with his hand, guessing that's the refs reasoning too.

Bruno superb.

That's Portugal finishing top of their group. Can't say it's undeserved. Who will they meet in the last 16?

Bad day for ego Ronnie. Opening goal given to Bruno. Subbed off and then a penalty he probably would have taken scored by Bruno. He'll be off to Piers to complain again?

Now Bruno is doing it on the world stage. I wonder what his haters will say now

Someone needs to check Pepe for steroids, he can’t be this good at 40

Bruno steals the show. Happy for him. He is the main man of Portugal. Disappointed with Ronaldo's celebration :(

Good to see Bruno score. Shocking penalty decision though, every so often the handball rule seems to go backwards again.

My view on the penalty:

With Ronaldo off the pitch: Stonewall pen, clearest pen in history

With Ronaldo on the pitch: shocking decision, ref is bought etc

Hope this helps.

Bentancur is too good a player for Spuds. We need to save him

By letter of the law it's not a penalty. The arm being used for balance when you slide to the ground is deemed a natural position. We saw this in the EPL recently when Chalobah did the same thing away to Newcastle.

For those saying no penalty, is that not denial of a goalscoring opportunity? I have no idea on what the rules exactly are but I feel like the context of the play is why the ref gave it.

Pellistri has looked good and lively today.

dont see how he doesn’t get chances in the second half of the season on the back of this.

Now they've qualified they need to rest Bruno in the last group game.

Not sure how that’s relevant if the action isn’t handball? It’s like saying a defender can’t kick the ball away if there’s a goal scoring opportunity
