Deschamps football terrorist round 2 - puts a DM in for Mbappe and pushes Rabiot to the wing. This guy is a monster

It's clearly Griezmann and Thuram up front/on the left wing and Rabiot, Kanté and Tchouameni in the middle.

Poland has been so poor. Boring, outdated football with a bunch of players past their prime.

Sure. But playing a midfield 3 of tchouameni, rabiot and kante with the talent they have is a bit depressing. Can't even put Camavinga in that ... Sigh

Still disgusting how much talent France has across the entire squad. Both starting and on the bench. Most of their bench would be starters in another team.

Frimpong rightwinger and Simons as 10. For once Koeman makes logical decisions

Hopefully France play Camavinga and WZE against Poland. Would be interesting to see what they can do.

Definitely. I hope they go far, wouldn't mind Austria losing the final against Germany
They arenn't going that far, they lack too much quality for that. But a quarter-final isn't off the book.

2 English refs in today’s games. A Taylor reffing the big one

People seem to be seriously overrating the quality of this French team.

They're starting a semi-retired Ngolo Kante in one of the key positions. Upamecano, Theo Hernandez, Rabiot, Marcus Thuram... That's supposed to impress me?

England has better quality and I'm saying this as a neutral.

Yes.

Generally, I have not seen good football from East European teams for a while now, with the exception of course of Croatia Circa 2018-2022. Teams from East Europe are very technically limited.

I'll admit I wasn't following the Slovakia - Ukraine game super closely, but I'm still pleasantly surprised I didn't notice Michael Oliver's punchable, attention-seeking mug during the game.

I see your point.

Now, if you were to bet your house on either France winning the tournament or England winning, which team you would pick?

Probably sensible to rest Mbappe for the knockout rounds. The pace in the team is still there even with the main man injured.

Finally Koeman read my posts saying Frimpong has to start as winger.

De Ligt benched is so strange. Thought the Netherlands played 3 at the back?

Of course France but this has nothing to do with the quality of players, but more about how they play as a team, and their manager.

People have been trying to convince me for months how France supposedly has better players than England, and I just don't see it.

Tells you more how badly England is mismanaged than anything.

They have Theo Hernandez on the left. The formation is fairly obvious. Rabiot will cover the left on defence and push up and inside in attack. Dembele on the right, Tchouameni-Kante double pivot, back 3, Thuram up top and Griezmann goes and does wherever and whatever the feck he wants

Given their depth of centre backs a 3 at the back and Maatsen and Frimpong as wing backs makes so much sense. No idea why they're not going for that.

Love when Shearer starts reeling off info and stats on players prepared by someone else and handed to him two minutes before

I don’t know if England has better players either, and today France start without their best player. France has a good squad and even better collectively.

So, I'm really impressed with the HDR on iplayer. However, the games don't appear to be in 4k?
