Day 3 | Poland vs Netherlands | Slovenia vs Denmark | Serbia vs England

Trent Alexander-Arnold lacks the physicality and nous to play in that position. Rice needs a more disciplined partner than TAA.

Bruno's average season rating on this forum was 5.4.

Far more people bother to leave ratings when they are annoyed after a poor performance.

Awful metric.
I mean didn’t Bruno have a fair few stinkers earlier in the season? You also finished 8th and he’s your captain. Maybe I’m being harsh now.

This game isn’t going well. Serbia have started to gain a foothold.

Serbia are wank. I thought with them having a smattering of high profile players, they be somewhat decent but they're only interested in fouling.

Make the sub Southgate for feck sake. Everyone knows what you need to do apart from you apparently.

Trent Trent Trent. Southgate loves him in midfield but he’s a liability and will cost us this tournament

That was nice from Vlahovic.. Finally one good play after embarassing 50 mins.

England team lacks balance on the left (oldest story), if Shaw is fit enough get him on!

Barely completed a pass all night, let's do a pirouette on the edge of my own box. fecking clown.
This is my issue with Southgate
It’s not working fecking hook him now.
We can all see it but apparently Southgate knows best.

Really going off of International football. We’ve got 10 EPL players out there but Southgate has them playing at a snails pace. If they played at EPL pace we should wipe the floor with this lot.

You can sort of let Trent off a bit because he isn't really a midfielder and has only had a handful of appearances there, Foden's got no excuse.

He also lacks the first touch as well. The most important skill needed for a good centre midfielder is a good first touch when pressed in tight areas, TAA lacks that and it's why he'll never be a midfielder (even if he had the physicality and positioning).

There's a reason why Klopp despite having had problems in midfield and a midfield injury crisis never pushed him into midfield.

Seen Trent a couple of times do the old Mctominay trick of standing behind an opposition player so that he’s not on for the pass in a tight area rather than finding the space to receive it. He knows himself he doesn’t belong there

Yeah 100%, for all the good he can do he has made several mistakes that against a Spain and a France would lead to a goal.

All just feels a little aimless again, similar to Iceland except we've got the early goal this time.

It's quite funny actually. I'd like to see if Southgate has the balls to play this midfield against a Spain/Germany/France. Would be a funny wake up call to all of these 'expert' pundits.

2-3 times his first touch in tight midfield areas have been bad, one ended up in the Mitrovic chance. Not even a mention of it, the nice pass to Saka though was mentioned for 5 minutes.

I actually think it would make some semblance of sense to play TAA against one of those teams. His main marketable skill, long cross field balls, may actually be useful against a decent team who are capable of pinning us in as we could bypass the press.

We should be looking to control games like this one though, and we have midfielders better suited to that than him.

There seems to be an unwritten rule in football that no matter how bad someone is playing you’re not allowed to sub them off until at least the 70th minute.

Do other nations not do the same or something? I've always found it weird when people complain about an English channel praising the England team during tournaments.

I don't mind praise, it's the over the top exaggerations of how good players have been or how good England have been I can't stand.
