Day 23: Uruguay vs France and Brazil vs Belgium

I’m cautiously optimistic. I wish he hadn’t have gotten hurt before this tournament started.
As am I, although I've been optimistic quite a few times only to be let down :nervous: on a side note all 3 of our signings so far have had injuries already, talk about unlucky.

Uruguay out with a whimper. Never in it. France gonna be tough to beat although I think Umtiti and the full backs can be got at.

Damn if Brazil beats Belgium my anxiety is only gonna increase because FRANCE.

Pogba and kante is close to the perfect combination you would want in midfield.

But have a mixture of a lot of really good traits, and both are arguably strongest where the other is weakest.

The Argentinian ref didnt matter at the end of day as Uruguay go out without a sound

So so easy for France
Look like just strolling toward semi

Yea they compliment each other unbelievably well.

We should get in there and hijack this from Juventus. Our shorts sales alone will be enough to fund this purchase.

I don't think they've been disgusting honestly.

Yes they have. Pathetic behaviour, glad they are going home. This is not football. Thank goodness we have seen that such disgusting behaviour hasn’t paid off for Panama, Uruguay or Colombia. They won’t be missed.

I guess you'll have to sell us Kante then considering you are crap now.

They were pretty rancid in the group. And I don't think they have had to be brilliant to beat Argentina nor so against Uruguay thus far.

They're not all that impressive to watch. And Deschamps is even less impressive.

They're not pleasant on the eye but efficient, similar to Brazil.

Those are "big names" but not a true opponent in fact.

Mexico and Portugal's defense were for exemple way better than Argentina's. Spain then Croatia is way more difficult for Russia than France´s route. Uruguay without Cavani is like Colombia without James, the level of the team is like 50%.

So I can't understand the "hardest route by far"

Do you have any better names to face then ? I have no doubt if Spain were in the same route as France you would have said they're past their peak and no way as good as before.

Maybe Liverpool should buy Muslera, seems like their type of GK.

France vs Brazil/Belgium is going to be a sensational semi-finals!!

Could potentially be Lukaku vs Pogba :drool:

Any doubt about that ?
Uruguay were disgusting to be honest

Disgusting is going too far, in the same way the reaction to Colombia was extreme. It shows how much the game has changed that these type of antics illicit such a reaction, used to be widespread, it was such a physical game with so much let go or not spotted.

Uruguay are still a country of 3 million who have had a solid WC campaign again, and have an amazing history in the game.

Deschamps reached the goal, so the caf can prepare itself for 2 more years of bashing.

France, Belgium, and England still all in the competition and I want all of them to win :(

Uruguay had 3 shots against Portugal but today they tasted their own venom. Completely blunt when they have to attack, especially without Cavani.

France has a tight defence and some great athletes but they still flatter to deceive.

All in all and despite being an highly entertaining WC, the winner could be the weakest in recent memory.

I think that's harsh on France, they have as good a midfield as you could want, a fluid front 3 and some great bench options. The only real weaknesses pre-tournament I would've thought are the fullbacks and they've both been very good.

The least exciting to watch game of the whole knockout stage so far imo. even the crowd was dead.

Not impressive? They know exactly when to play one touch and move fast, I say that is pretty impressive. Let's see how it goes against Brazil or Belgium but I start thinking that team is growing a lot now.

Good to see the crowd cheering the players.

We had a bad game. Caceres was shocking. But even with all at the races it would have been a tall order.

I said yesterday we would be done if we made a mistake and we made two (bad first touch and rash challenge following up and Muslera).

Good luck France and @kouroux . Doesn't excite to the sum of it parts, but probably the most resourceful team left while others are gettable/more tactically one dimensional.
