Day 23: Netherlands vs. Argentina

Extra Time.

Germany to be happy with this.

Already a day late and now extra time.

Dutch have had 2 extra times in a row now too.

Right about now the suggestion of games just going straight to penalties sounds good.

Robben and Sneijder much more into it, Holland defending well. If there is a goal in ET I fancy it will go to them.

Clueless how some think this game's been boring. Enjoyed it a lot more than the second half yesterday.

Piss poor match, Holland finally started attacking in the final 10 mins, Messi is ruining Argentina's build up play, looks disinterested and not creating the space, actually quite disgraceful at this level. If Sabella had any balls he'd sub him and teach him a lesson.

Can see what ever team gets through tonight will be beaten by Germany quite comfortably and I'm not just talking about the result yesterday.

With teams like these, there should be a rule where the captains can just go up to each other at the coin toss and just be like,

"Penalties?"

"Penalties."

and save us all 120 minutes.

I had an eye on Messi this game.

He really is the laziest player on this planet, isn't he? I would never like to see a player like that playing for Bayern, no matter how good he is with the ball on his feet.

janmaat has been poor since he has come on

Clasie on the other hand has looked good

It's been a 0-0 that hasn't really offered all that much in way of excitement. Not too difficult to see why some have thought it's been boring.

i am struggling to remember players who are just as shit as Janmaat, Wijnaldum, Kuyt and Blind all they do is pass backwards, and it takes them so long to actually control a ball and pass, Clasie looks like a Xavi in comparison to them seriously watching them makes me feel we are far too harsh on Carrick and Cleverley

What the hell were those subs by Sabella ?!! He lost the midfield this way !!

Up until yesterday it had been 28 years since one team won a WC semi-final by more than one goal difference (exception for Italy after extra time in 2006).

Cagey games are the norm here.

Everytime Wijnaldum and Kuyt have dared to play an attacking pass Holland have benefitted. Yet they seem intent on running back, and then passing back everytime they get the chance.

Stellar acting by 'Arry there.

Dirk has been very good all game, not fancy just good decision making and positioning. Vlaar too!

Exactly. When you're as good as him nine times out of ten you can get away with it, tonight though he's been disgraceful. Holland have literally just put someone on him and he can't be bothered to make the space for his team mates to find him. Part of me wants Holland to win now, he doesn't deserve to win the WC if he can't be arsed to play for it.

So who's given a more accurate impression of Hadrian's wall, Mascherano or Ron Vlaar?

Think it's been enthralling personally from a tactical point of view.

Watching this sober is no longer possible. Only alcohol can improve this match.
