Day 20: Brazil vs. Colombia

It looks like the other South Americans have a bit of a complex about Brazil, Columbia are getting impatient and annoyed at being annoyed, they're giving away a lot of silly fouls, Guarin could be gone for that high foot on Hulk's leg. They need to calm down.

Brilliant entertainment, a tonic after the drivel that was served up earlier.

Bent ref is bent. So frustrating to watch this because of him.

Zuniga makes a studs up challenge on Hulk - goes without a booking and you lot are moaning about Fernandinho's fouls? None of which were malicious by the way.

How annoying is it that Fernandinho never gets a card ? Even the commentator on ESPN is saying "yet another foul from Fernandinho" ...

It's very annoying to watch Brazil play like this, they're supposed to have the great Samba style, but they know Colombia are the better footballing team, so all they can do is kick them.

Fernandinho...

This is bullshit.

His very first challenge vs Chile, was an absolute clear yellow card. He kept kicking the chilean players down to the ground the whole time he played, until he got subbed. No yellow.

Today looks like the same bs...

Lovely end to end game. Neither team seem particularly interested in defending or holding any sort of structured shape. It's creating good entertainment though.

Not sure about Hulk either. Not been convinced by him out wide in a forward 3. Doesn't seem to have the technical ability for it. All he has in his locker is dropping his shoulder to get a few inches on his marker and then smashes it.

I was thinking about starting a Jamesometer thread, pronounced Hamezometer, starting at €75K and going up or down depending on how well he's doing.

If he's having a shit match then Woody puts in a cheeky bid when his value drops to €35M or so.

What do you reckon he's worth at the moment? About €50M?

Ref is too afraid Brazil wont finish the game with eleven, now Colombia is getting frustrated. Brazil being saved by FIFA yet again.

Brazil are using far less long balls than in the last game they played

The Colombians aren't quite as diminutive as the Chileans.

What does Fernandinho need to do to get booked?

He keeps hacking Rodriguez.

I wonder if you can even get booked for persistent fouling anymore. A lot of his challenges are completely needless as well.

Colombia are looking pretty nervous. The injured keeper isn't doing them any favours with possession, and none of their attackers - Cuadrado in particular - seem to want to shoot. Doesn't help that Brazil look far fitter almost across the board.

Also I think Brazil are 4 for 5 for games in which they've scored from a set piece. Germany, take note :p

Jamez has been shit, he looks nervous. Suddenly the world expects and he is in focus. Different pressure game altogether.

He keeps hacking Rodriguez deliberately to stop him with 4 bad fouls atleast. Brazil are clearly targetting him and ref needs to protect him./

"Fifa want Brazil to win, I tell you. There will be protests and earthquakes if they don't. I read it in the Mail."

Don't get the Hulk hate, I think he's pretty good. Fred seems lost at sea, though.

Ref's been making mistakes in favour of boths sides.

:p
Brazil have been using the long ball all tournament, its one of the big complaints Brazilians have had so far. They are playing this game differently to the previous 4

As I expected, Colombia is easier opponent than Chile.

They're decent, but have been hyped to absurd levels, because of easy schedule and few flashy goals.

The best attacking player today. Has been creating chances for himself the whole Half... unlucky with the finishing.

ps. yes, Fred is shit. I would bring Bernard in for him.

Some truth in this. You put Chile in Colombia's group and they make it this far. You put Colombia in Chile's...different story I think.
