Day 2: Wales vs Switzerland | Denmark vs Finland | Belgium vs Russia

They successfully revived him whats the problem? The medics involved did a good job. I'm not going to sit here and slate them they literally saved his life today.

You can always do better. I want the best for the players.

It seems likely they weren’t trained in CPR. If so, trying to do it and doing it badly can cause more harm than good. And organisationally it can make sense that team medics aren’t trained in that giving professional doctors are available pitchside. There may be things to be learned from the way things were communicated and the process followed but it seems a bit harsh to criticise them.

If they aren't trained then that's something the Danish FA need to look at as its piss poor.

This actually could be used as a great teaching moment by public health in Europe and even other countries about the importance of bystander CPR.

We had a young Amish patient in our ICU a couple of years ago after cardiac arrest. After he recovered we went and taught that particular Amish community CPR. We think it may have helped when a similar young person had cardiac arrest last year.

Agreed. Hopefully lessons learned.

The man just nearly died ffs, if it wasn't against the rules I'd say something more appropriate.
Why's everyone going on about nearly died? The fact is that right now, he's in stable condition.

The mood to play? Now where do we draw the line? Someone collapses we abandon, but if someone suffers a double fracture broken leg, we are ok to continue?

Plenty of matches have continued after players suffering very serious multiple fractures, are they not shaken in those cases?

Drawing the line at a life threatening event on the pitch seems pretty straightforward. The fact he didn’t die doesn’t change the fact it was life threatening. Arguing the point is a bit of a dick move regardless of your personal views, given the obvious impact it had on the people you’re arguing with. Just basic empathy.

It's everywhere now, so I guess I was too fast with my reaction. I just didn't know how to feel about it.

I felt the same. It is good to reassure people but it’s also a continuation of the invasive “journalism”. Hard to strike the right balance there given the intentions are good but the actions are questionable.

Of course they did and should be applauded.

But that's not to say cpr couldn't have been started immediately by the 2 team medics that got there initially. It could save someone's else's life.

All in all, thank god he's ok.
We don't have enough information to determine whether he still had a pulse when the team doctors got to him to be fair. We're literally all guessing at the moment. The important thing is he got the help he required and his life was saved. Credit to everyone involved.

Imagine displaying callousness just for meaningless attention.

ive reported you, and requested you are banned. I don’t care if people think that’s an overreaction, but I think your posts are an absolute disgrace.

Well said mate.

The point is that every source available says he's stable!!!

If it was bad news I'd agree with you.
I'd say a good line to draw a cancel or postponement at is if someone's heart or breathing stops on the field of play. That seems like a reasonable place to draw a line in the sand.

Which part of what I said isn't true?

I'm not a professinal footballer.

You're right. Professional footballers are paid too much to have empathy towards a dying teammate and friend. You just wind them up, stick on some grass and watch them go.
I really don't know what kind of point you're trying to make.

With all due respect mate, someone nearly died out there. Show some compassion ffs.
I certainly hope for the best for him, but how is rescheduling the game going to help him in anyway?

Sadly, I had similar situation with my father. He is ok now, but he must be ok in a day or two
As for the medical tests, sometimes these things are impossible to detect

Those very same players will be the first to know that he's in stable condition.

The fact is that he's in as good condition as can be expected right now.

I’m literally lost for words with some of your posts

You honestly cannot be for real that both sets of players will be fine to go out there right now to a play a football game when someone almost lost their life.

What is wrong with you that you can't relate to how the Danish players will be feeling right now? Can't you put yourself in their shoes and imagine watching someone close to you collapse and receive CPR then imagine being asked to go back to work an hour later?

Agreed entirely.. thank god he's OK. Everything else in secondary

They've got to cancel the game and move it to another time.

If your mate just had a heart attack right in front of you, would you feel like playing football?

Don't think he understands how massively that can affect someone.

In university, I had the terrible experience of having a friend of mine collapse on the field, everyone froze and didn't know what to do, I tried my best to do CPR, but it took AGES for any proper medical personnel to get there, so I just kept doing CPR with another friend, until the medics came but sadly, what we didn't know at the time, was that it was too late, he didn't make it. :( Seeing this tonight, just unearthed all that emotion and experience.

That was one of the worst experiences in my life, and to this day there is a certain smell and images that triggers the memory of that day and giving him CPR that I can never forget.
I couldn't go back to the pitch for the rest of that year and had to have extensive counselling before I could even step on it and play football again.

Stadium announcer says Eriksen's condition is stable but match hasn't officially been cancelled yet.

The Danish FA had someone trained in CPR. They saved his life. Perhaps the right people weren’t brought in at the right time but describing that as piss poor is clearly misguided.

the crowd chanting his name is giving me chills. Finland fans shouting Christian while the Denmark fans shout Eriksen.

Are you honestly for real that you can compare a player getting injured to a double fracture broken leg in comparison to a player receiving CPR?

What we saw today is one of the worst things anyone could ever witness. Would you be in the right frame of mind to continue playing if a teammate of yours nearly lost their life? I doubt it.

Think players should be given the night to rest and come back a bit more mentally fresh tomorrow and finish the remaining 50 minutes sometime on Sunday.

That seems the common sense option to me given the better news in last half hour with his condition. A few will probably want to go visit him in hospital tonight aswell rather than finishing off the game.

If you don't understand the difference between a broken leg and a heart attack there's no point arguing with you.

You’re a special type of self-centred cnut, aren’t you? You do understand that when it was happening, none of us knew he was going to be ok, especially those around him. That shock and scare doesn’t randomly go away because he is “stable” now.

Going on and on about “drawing a line”. No one gives a shit about your hypothetical line right now, and the game altogether is a secondary concern for most normal humans.
