Day 2: Wales vs Switzerland | Denmark vs Finland | Belgium vs Russia

An image on Twitter has shown him with his eyes open and hand on head being wheeled off.

Denmark has excellent healthcare , at least all the factors such as emergency reaction time are there.

Actually feel so empty inside right now. Desperately hoping it's a Muamba situation.

The TV directors or whoever decides what gets shown on the screens are absolute idiots that should be sacked asap. Crass and disrespectful coverage. Get them to feck.

Couldn't agree more. The BBC have a lot to answer for on why it never instantly cut to the studio rather than keep showing what was going on the pitch with Eriksen receiving CPR.

The BBC zoomed in on his crying girlfriend/wife, how fecking tasteless is that?

that is terrible, thankfully the danish national tv panned out of the stadium as soon as it was apparent the situation was serious.

I will never forget the look on his face when he collapsed, but the most horrible part was zooming in on his girlfriend/wife. At some point, empathy should take priority over doing a job.

I honestly think he’s dead, hope I’m wrong! It didn’t look good. Why is there no mobile heart equipment considering after everything that’s happened in the past??
Don’t know how the tournament continues if he dies!
Shocked by that, surely at this level of football they have a defribulator ready to go on the side of the pitch?

I know it's very rare but when it happens you need it ASAP. IT felt like an age before he got proper treatment.

It didn't look great did it. BBC fecked up big time there too.

He was 100% out, and they were trying to resucitate.
Really hoping it's a Muamba situation, rather than Foe.

I'm a bit naive/hopeful, but I'm really hoping it was some sort of extreme heat reaction to things - and it's recoverable for him in terms of career as well as life, although the former is way way less important right now of course.

I doubt he would have went throughout all this career with an undiagnosed heart condition. I think it's probably a sudden heart attack and nothing else.

He received medical attention pretty quickly so hopefully that helped and he's going to be okay. One can only hope and pray that he will be. Life is so fragile.

Yes, the only tiny positive about this, is that it happened on the biggest stage with massive medical resources on hand.
Imagine if that had happened down the local park!

I didn't notice what happened. Working on my case analysis study and kept hearing the broadcast in the background. Finally stopped my work to see what the fuss was about. Inevitably, I see the guy convulsing and CPR being performed.

One of those moments when humanity consumed me. Just felt horrible for him, his family, his teammates, the fans, the opposition looked shattered.

Like with any overseas football event, they don't control the coverage. All of the broadcasters around the world would have had the same feed.

None of that was seen on Danish tv. They cut to aerial footage of the stadium pretty quickly.

Just seen it, hopefully he's OK- I thought he headed the ball, then went down but apparently he was collapsing already.

Did he get hit on the head earlier and its delayed serious head injury?

Hope he pulls through, at least medical staff could immediately attend to him and rush him to hospital

Yeah, these days I cannot believe top players aren't checked for these things.

It's all controlled by one entity, isn't it? I think we may all have seen the same thing.

Not sure if it is. Swedish TV didn't show his girlfriend and only showed a camera pretty far from where Eriksen was. Didn't really see much except from when he was carried out.

So seems like broadcasters have som control in what they choose to show.

Portuguese broadcaster is replaying the images. fecking disgusting.
Where are you watching? I'm watching SportTV and they have been impeccable. Both the commentators and the directors, I don't know if they control the broadcast, but as soon as CPR was shown, they basically stopped trying to show it. A couple general shots of the players around him, then they showed 2 quick shots of his sister, and that was it.

Right now they are just showing the stadium.

The broadcast yeah but each one has the choice to go back to the studio anytime if I’m not mistaken.

The people running the broadcast needs to be sacked. There were no reason for the kind of intrusive detail that was presented there. The Norwegian broadcaster had to take manual control and just show an overview of the pitch.

Here in Sweden they cut to a camera way off viewing the entire stadium (so that whatever was going on on the pitch was but a speck on the screen), and then eventually just cut the broadcast altogether. No fecking clue why some broadcasters decided to show the CPR etcetera. Appalling.

Positive signs. What a reminder about the fragility of life.

Big big questions need to be asked as to whether it was justifiable to play this stupid tournament after a stressful season like that

My uncle died of a heart attack while jogging at a local park. Nobody knows how long he was there until they found him. He was on life support for a few days but couldn't pull through. For situations like this every second is crucial.

Fingers crossed. Finnish flag behind? Is it authentic?

Can't think of any other game(with denmark, since you see a team mate to the right) where Eriksen was taken out with oxygen mask on so it would most likely be authentic. Fantastic to see him awake.
