Day 2 | Hungary vs Switzerland | Spain vs Croatia | Italy vs Albania

Well this has been thoroughly depressing so far.

We knew the Swiss had the better team but they're utterly dominating.

Swiss suffocating press around Hungarys final third, has been very impressive.
But they seem vulnerable once that press is beaten. Germany will probably destroy both these teams.

Hungary have been a big dissappointment so far; I thought they could have been one of the surprises in the tournament. Conversely, Switzerland are better than expected.

Switzerland have a great bench too.

Shaqiri, Elvedi, Steffen, Kobel, Embolo are some great options. Zakaria and Zuber are injured. All in all, they have a pretty great squad. Underrated team.

Hungary were pretty highly rated coming into this game.

Switzerland weren't, but somehow they always manage to put up a good showing at international tournaments.

They were a popular dark horse pick and the dark horse picks never seem to go well. Remember the Turkey hype at the last Euros.

Hungary appear to have come out for the second half and actively attempted to get even worse. It's a bold move, lets see if it pays off for them.

In the last 12 months, Hungary mostly faced shite opponents. The only notable teams they have beaten in that time period are Serbia and Turkey, which is good but Switzerland in a big competition are a different level compared to those opponents.

Swiss have always had a decent team but lacked firepower up front. All of a sudden they have two up and coming talents in Duah and Embolo.

Satire ? Both of them are 27 year olds.

Hungary are not playing like a team that's losing 2-0. Sitting off too much and when they get the ball in the Swiss half they don't even commit many players forward.

They've been good but not Germany good and Hungary have been a bit better than us but still quite bad so there still hope! We can't be any worse than last night really...can we? :nervous:

I really don't think you need to give up already. Souness would, of course, have you believe it was all about you lot being shite, when in reality Germany simply played a masterpiece of a football match.
I firmly believe both Swiss and Hungary will get utterly dismantled by Germany and you still have everything in your own hands.

Xhaka is a tad underrated here because of his temper and dumb, petulant moments for Arsenal.

His technique is absolutely elite and has leadership qualities too. I can see why so many managers rate him so highly.

Remember when Xhaka turned into the hybrid of Xavi and Pirlo in the last Euros against France? Quality player.

I think what group stages of tournaments tell us is that teams can have really awful games and still go through.

Szoboszlai has been very underwhelming atm. Seems very frustrated about his teammates.
