Day 2 | Hungary vs Switzerland | Spain vs Croatia | Italy vs Albania

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been desperate to hear the defensive analysis from Micah Richards.

Calafiori is a perfect centre-half/leftback hybrid sort of player. He has enough actual fullback qualities to do the role well.
He looks like a serious player,no bother on the ball, standing out of defence and calm under pressure. I know it's only Albania. Wonder will motta take him to juventus.

I took my eye off Italy after they didn't qualify for qatar . They look good . They look after it as good as anyone . If they do well , it's about coaching/ tactics because there's maybe 6 teams with more good players than them .

Tournament magic notwithstanding, Dimarco is way better than Grosso, Barella is better than any 2006 midfielder other than Pirlo, and Chiesa would start for pretty much every Italian NT of the last 30 years. 2006 had the world class stars this team lacks, sure, but this isn't a bad team by any means

Putting the cart before the horse? Like 1982! Better than 2006!! … and yet, glory is rewarded in retrospective: win first, boast second. The most “impressive” Italian NTs I have faint memory of are Euro 2000 & WC 2002, two bitter failures.

Italy need to kill this game off. Theyll feck up and concede late

All it will take is a well placed corner or free kick and for all their dominance Italy could be undone. They do need to kill it off as you say.

To think Chelsea have been trying to con anyone they can out of £50m for Broja for the last 12 months.

£15m is his fair value.

Eh. 1990 to 1996 were the best we've had. Really bitter failures those

2000 hurts for how it went, but the team wasn't the clear best in the tournament and we made the final off the back of The Greatest Game in Dutch Football history @KirkDuyt

2002 FIFA wanted us out and got it(even before Moreno, there was that ridiculous Croatia game)

2004 was bad and it hurt and we had the team to win. 2004 to 2006 we probably had the best european national side

1982 was comparable ro 2006

Yeah 50m is an absurd overvaluation. He was a rapid and gifted youngster but don't think he has pushed on and obviously that bad injury really has impacted his development.

Think he has Been linked to Italy, may be a good option for his development.

In no real world do Chelsea expect anyone to pay that. But I’m sure they’ll set that price tag as a negotiation tactic. His value is currently on the floor though. Had we sold him immediately after his Southampton loan, he could have easily fetched £30-40m.

Calafiori looks good. Very good. Left footed centre back too. Technique, build, pacey, passing all impressive. How’s he compared to Branthwaite?

Even 15m is steep at this rate. He's done nothing for two seasons.

I know it's not a new opinion but I feel so underwhelmed when watching Jorginho.

I get that he positions himself well to receive a pass but his pass selection and general dynamism on/off the ball is so meh. He doesn't turn that well in tight spaces and when in those spaces will generally just play a ball where it came (not really relieving pressure or adding to it). He's plays like the piggy in the middle but he's not exactly sharp with the ball, can carry it or offers athleticism. Surely, there's another safe, calm head, experienced and more physical midfielder they have?

He's not hurting Italy but I wouldn't say he elevates them too, which imo is below par seeing how many good players and runners he's got around him. He's been a bit sloppy with passes in this game when they aren't 5 yards away to feet i.e something a bit more ambitious.

Not sure what you are trying to say… can we just agree that in spite of progressive Spalletti being the coach, this seems Allegri ball.. it probably depends on the quality / personality of the players… imho.

Potentially, although given his injury, I think clubs would have been hesitant to spend 30-40 even then. What they need to do is get him to show his value on loan again before sitting listening to offers. Even the Championship would be a good idea I think. A 20-25 goal season in the Championship at his age would be better for him than a PL squad player loan with 5.

Of the many players we’ve had at the club who looked like they could burst into tears at any moment, Matteo Darmian was definitely one of them.

I'd love him as one of our CB signings this summer. Can plas as a LB too which would be a big plus for us. He'd cost much lesser than Branthwaite and allow us to fix some other positions.

Won't happen though. We're not smart enough to explore this kind of players and fixated only overpriced, PL players.
